Freewire losing power
Damn. I had to replace my freewire in Feb because the mic didn't work while using it.
A couple months ago I got a new bike, 2014 Harley, and did the same setup, y cable under the seat with one port going to the gas tank as normal and another going to the tour pak where the freewire was plugged into the lighter. Worked like a charm for about a month. Now it's starting to turn itself on and off at will when it should just stay on.
Yes, reset it, etc. I've also plugged a wired helmet into both ports just to make sure it wasn't something with the y cable. Wired helmet works fine.
The freewire blue light goes out for a while when it dies. Not the blinking, I mean there is no power to the thing, then comes back on for a second or two then goes away again. sometimes back on for 10 seconds, sometimes for 1, sometimes for 30-40 seconds then turns back off.

I have the Honda Freewire but the loss of power to my Freewire has happened twice now and it was the D/C power cord to the Freewire which Sena has replaced twice now. Without this cord the Freewire dies after the internal battery loses it's charge. The cord is unique and can only come from Sena. If the power is not maintained to the Freewire it's because of this cord if everything else is good.

Ahh, that would explain why it comes back on for 30 seconds, 10 seconds, etc. It partially charges then the cable craps out again.
I'd be more than happy to try another power cord if they'll send me one. I had the first Freewire for what 3 months before it quit allowing me to transmit. Now this one's been in use for one month. I would imagine it's still under warranty :)
Thanks for the information!

Yes I have two Freewires and both power cables failed. As soon as I replaced the bad cable the Freewire worked again. Sena has replaced one and I talked to them today and they are sending a replacement for second failed one. Both lasted about 2 months or so for me too and I told Sena how unacceptable this was.
I think Sena knows there's a problem with them because they changed the design of the cord. My older one had a removable end with a glass tube fuse in it. The newer cord does not have the fuse and the end is solid. It failed just the same maybe even sooner. It's a poor design by Sena because the cord is not a universal cord. You have to use the specific cord made by Sena. So if your on a trip and the cord goes you've got no comms.
I found a cord at Amazon for $22 and one on eBay for $15 so I ordered one from eBay so I can have a spare at all times.
