I have the new Zumo 350, and am able to successfully pair it with the SMH5. However, after just a few minutes of use after powering the devices on, the audio is no longer present in the SMH5.
I am running the latest firmware on both devices.
I have tried re-pairing them multiple times, the issue remains and is 100% repeatable.

Have the same problem, already two weeks. Even I installed the new firmware 1.2. Would it be a zumo error??? I send it to garmin last week but no answer yet.

Here under what I found about the SMH10 and zumo 350:
The Zumo 350LM does NOT include an MP3 player (or picture viewer), so it uses a headset (HFP or HSP) profile for Bluetooth pairing rather than an A2DP profile used for high fidelity audio (and used by the Garmin 660/665). We were using Sena SMH10 headsets, which can selectively pair with one HFP/HSP and one A2DP profile simultaneously, but NOT two A2DP profiles. So . .. we were able to have high-quality stereo music (iTunes, Pandora, etc), cell phone, and voice-prompt based functions (Siri) available through our phones, voice directions from the Zumo, and headset-headset communications, all switched and prioritized by the Sena headset rather than having phone functions and music handled via the Garmin, and relying on the GPS to sort it all out. Music/phone/intercom switching was reliable and we were able to use voice-prompt apps with our phones. To each his own—for those who want their GPS to be an entertainment center (or who rely on XM for weather or other info), the 350LM isn’t a good choice. But for those who prefer to have your phone be your iTunes/entertainment/information/communications device—especially if you’re using Sena headsets, the 350LM is a good option.

Maybe but you can pair the zumo in two different ways. With phone button 5 sec and with jog dial button 5 sec. with is the right way and do he cut in both manners?
We are under testing of Zumo350 and try to get you guys a firmware patch after solving this problem. Looks like Bluetooth implementation is different vendor-to-vendor and even model-to-model with same brand. Software development and capability are getting much more important along with the diversified IT gadgets including smart phones. We just want to tell you that are aware of the problem and try to do something. Please stay tuned awhile when we are ready. Thanks.

It is not carved in stone that the problems are there in Sena's bluetooth firmware. Seen lots of reports about issue "pairing ok - no sound" with headsets from different manufactures: Sena, Sharktooth, Midland BTX2, BTnext, InterPhone.
The latest 1.2 firmware may solve the audio problem, I've just installed it on my SMH5. I need to test tomorrow on the road.
Unfortunately, the multipoint pairing in the beta doesn't appear to work. I am able to pair both my iPhone 4S (iOS 6) and the Zumo 350, but only the audio for the iPhone actually comes through.
Tested the 1.2 beta firmware this morning on the ~12 mile ride to work. The audio lasted longer than with 1.1, but eventually stopped coming through (probably around the 10 minute mark, previously it was just two or three minutes). Turned the Zumo off and back on (the quick off, which is sort of a sleep mode), pairing re-engaged and audio worked again.
I guess this is an improvement, but still effectively not working.
I also upgraded to the 1.2rc firmware, and tried it on my way home from work, and yes it lasts longer than before but didn't last the entire journey, also I think it sometimes misses prompts from the garmin, e.g. when the garmin alerts you to a nearby traffic cam and then beeps, I can hear a hiss come through on the speakers as if something is about to be played but then it stops and nothing - weird. I also tried to get the multipoint pairing working with the garmin and my iPhone 4S, that didn't work as expected - but thats another issue.
We are under testing the interoperability with Zumo 350. Looks like they have changed the Bluetooth software. We are testing it while modifying Sena firmware. Soon, we may need to release some patch firmware improving interoperability.
There is a new firmware for garmin zumo 350(firmware 2.40). Hopefully this will be the solution for Bluetooth problems? I try it tomorrow

Tried the new soft today (zumo soft 2.4 sena soft 1.2) . The problem is still there. I connect the zumo (jog dial 5 sec than phone button) the connection went away after 20 minutes. I shut off zumo and back on again, the connection came back for 5 minutes than nothing any more.
Tested today on the way in to work. The audio stopped working after about 8 minutes. Cut out in the middle of a voice instruction from the 350.
Looks like the Zumo 350's 2.40 update doesn't fix the issue.
I posted this problem on a Dutch garmin forum. They told me that the Cardo Scala Rider G4 works fine with the zumo 350 strange isn't it?
I'm going for a 2 hour ride to the coast today, so will giving the Zumo 2.40 update and SMH 1.2rc firmware a try.
Looks like we almost get to the final station. Please stay tuned awhile until we solve the problem completely. We also need to check the Zumo v2.4 update.
Any updates on this in relationship to the SMH10? So far, even with Garmin 2.40 firmware, using the Zumo with SMH10 is pretty much a no go. Sound is delayed, distorted or "blank with beeps" instead of a voice prompt. Very frustrating.
On the Dutch forum they find the solution. It's not a total fix but it works. The only thing you have to do is disconnect the microphone. I tested it today on a trip off 350 km no problems any more. Stays connected all the time and had all spoken announcement. The only negative , you can't use your mobile any more.
And ! is there a solution yet?
