    Gary,

Unfortunately the SMH10 is unable to pair with the Harley Davidson Boom Box Infotainment System as it does not have the capability to be paired with any Bluetooth headset. It can be paired with a phone or Bluetooth MP3 player for music input but the Boom Box Infotainment System does not have a way to output sound over a Bluetooth headset.

Gary, it's one of the shortcomings of the Harley Infotainment System.  For some reason, the Harley engineers decided that we want cables instead of state-of-the-art BlueTooth cable-less communications.

    Go figure.

Just got back from local HD dealer and their salesman said "yeah, it works with BT headsets." I said "No, it don't. And the HD forums are buzzing about how you guys are lying to your customers."

FACT: As said in other posts, the new HD Infotainment System was not designed for wireless headsets. It was designed for the wired crowd who want a BT connection with their phone and GPS unit.

Has anyone heard if HD has plans to enable bluetooth helmet connectivity?

In the following thread, SENA Pro states there's an adapter in the works. Any updates on this?

    Dan;

I have an AKE unit, but haven't used it yet. Was given to me by a Gold Wing rider who hated it. He said it wouldn't pair easily, and it wouldn't stay paired. He said it worked OK when paired.

I'm using a Sena SM10 on my 2014 Ultra Limited paired as a mobile device and the only problem I've found is using the speech recognition, the SM10 doesn't seem to be passing the audio to the infotainment system.  Haven't  tried the CB.  I was thinking to try the A2DP pairing (maybe?)

The SM10 cannot pass audio to the infotainment system because it doesn't have a receiver; all it does is transmit audio from the bike to one or two BT headsets. It can't pass what you say in the mic to the CB either. The SM10 pairs to BT headsets using the A2DP profile.

As you found out by now the HD 2014 infotainment system's BT adapter does not work with BT headsets. That's because it doesn't have the HFP or headset profile. It wasn't designed for operation with BT headsets. It was designed so riders with wired headsets could pair their BT-capable GPS units and BT phones to the infotainment system. IMHO, this betrays a huge gap in HD's understanding of what their riders need with regard to BT support.

You CAN pair the phone to both the Infotainment system and the SMH10...you can make/receive calls and play music from the phone to the HD speakers...you will also hear the ringtone on both the bike and Sena speakers, have caller ID/access to address book from the bike. No audio path from bike back to SMH10, or CB functionality... Workaround for phone shown here : Test setup: IPhone 4s, latest firmware revision Sena SMH10, firmware version 5.1 2014 FLHTK, 6.5 Infotainment system, latest firmware. Paired the iPhone to the SMH10, full functionality (intercom to other Senas, music from phone, GPS turn-by turn from phone, Siri functional, etc). Turned Sena headset OFF. Then I paired the iPhone 4s to the Infotainment system via BlueTooth. HD radio plays media, makes/receives phone calls (it expects mic audio to come from hardwired HD headsets). Full .access to phone address book. Caller ID shows up on HD display. Turned bike OFF. After all the pairing was completed (you only have to do the pairing once) I used this startup sequence: a. FIRST I powered up the Sena SMH10; it immediately found the iPhone. b. SECOND I powered up the Harley; after a short while the Infotainment system also found the phone. You'll know you're good to go because the BlueTooth symbol on the Infotainment screen will light up and you'll have a signal strength indicator from the phone. TO RECEIVE A CALL: I called the cell phone from the landline... 1. HD radio plays the ringtone, displays caller ID, AND you also hear the a ringtone in the Sena earphones. 2. DO NOT tap the phone button on the Sena, it won't do any good...you'll hear the caller on both the speakers and the headset, but your mic will be dead....tap ANSWER on the HD radio (push in the right-hand joystick). 3. Once the bike answers the call HOLD DOWN the phone button on the Sena headset for a second or two...it will beep, then port all phone audio (speaker and mic) to/from the Sena SMH10. To end the call hit the phone button on the Sena again as you normally would, or kill the call from the Infotainment system. TO MAKE A CALL: 1. You can either select someone from the phone book by using the Infotainment system, or give a Siri command from the Sena headset. 2. The phone call will connect and you'll hear the audio thru BOTH the speakers AND the Sena headset. Again, you're only hearing the phone call, your mic is not connected. 3. HOLD DOWN the phone button on the Sena for a second or two...it will beep and then port all the audio (speaker and mic) to/from the Sena SMH10. To end the call hit the phone button on the Sena again as you normally would, or kill the call from the Infotainment system. I think the key here is to fire up your BT headset in the helmet and let it find the phone FIRST, then power up the bike SECOND. I tried it the other way around and it didn't function as I wanted. Of course, the utility here is you get caller ID on the Infotainment screen...if you don't want/need it, the SMH10 does fine with an iPhone anyway, don't pair it...but this way you can also play music from the iPhone over the HD speakers if you desire. While connected to the iPhone, you can fast forward, etc. thru the music on the phone by using the left joystick controls on the bike. This does not address the porting of music from the bike TO the BT headset, or functionality with the CB module, but it's progress :) All you're really doing is redirecting the phone call from the hands-free kit in the bike to a BlueTooth headset (for Ford Sync users, the car display would say "In Privacy")...at no time is your mic audio being accepted/used by the HD radio.

Hi all, I've just tried Gregg's solution (i've seen same frome v-twin forum), but doesn't work for me.

BTW, i've an Android Xperia Z1 compact. I've checked and it seems that smartphone can't use 2 BT profiles in the same time...but after a check in the Apple support...that is the same...?!

I've followed the same sequence but the boombox never showed the BT icone...and for sure, if I try to use de "communication" and "connect smartphone" option...i've an error (normal...already userd by the SMH10)...

I'm the only one or this "glitch" just work with Iphone ?

    TY

my advice is to acquire the Sena SM-10 and the HD cable option. I added a power port in the Tour Pak for $22 to keep the SM10 powered all the time and out of the weather. I used the rear seat wired DIN plug on the bike and routed inside the Tour Pak. With this setup, everything that the HD infotainment system can generate (via the wired output) gets sent to the Sena Bluetooth headset. The only down side to this implementation is one should unpair the phone side (and leave media/music pairing in place) as no microphone to the HD is available. I have a Droid running 4.4 Android. I added speed dial numbers into the Sena headset to frequently called numbers. On incoming calls, you can optionally turn on caller ID voice if you really need to know who is calling you.

All of this at the end of the day would not be needed if The MoCO supported HSP head set profiles in the Harmon Kardon "state of the art" Infotainment system.................... I urge everyone to call HD customer service and let them know what we all want and need. You should also tell the general manager at your HD dealer what you need. The Dealers have ears at the MoCo we do not have.

    Good luck.

I just bought a 2015 Ultra Limited and the salesman said it would accept Bluetooth headsets. Sadly it does not. With all the hoopla surrounding the Mount Rushmore project and how Harley listened to it's riders. They sure missed the boat on  this one.

Rathbone, see my solution in this thread using an SM-10 and the rear headset jack on the HD and wire to the SM-10.  Recently, I decided to call HD on this issue.  The answer just pissed me off even more. HD's solution is to build a proprietary wireless headset so they can sell you more stuff with the bar and shield logo. HD is retreating from Rushmore and I might too!  Joe
