I also got a pair of 1408xxxxx units to replace my 1406's. I updated them to firmware V1.2

No more problems using earbuds, the audio is excellent. Volume adjustment is now much louder which is good. Speakers are removed and the hole filled with blu tack and taped over to keep weatherproof.

The FM radio works but tends to drop in and out, signal reception seems weak but at least it now works.

All other features seem to work well. I'm hoping that now I have new hardware, some new firmware can resolve the FM reception issue.

I received my replacement units, this week. FM works very well now. At least as good as the Triumph Trophy built in FM radio. The sound quality is better from the Sena FM than it is by using blue-tooth to retrieve the Triumph FM. Sena features, like the auto search station preset and volume control makes the Sena a better FM listening choice. And, I do believe I got a few more clicks of  louder volume with the new units. (I use ear plugs, so that was big for me as well). The Mic boom is longer too, placing the Mic where it needs to be. Sena responded VERY well to my headset performance issues. In addition to receiving new 20s units, Sena requested I NOT send back all the "accessories" that came in the original kits, just the mounts and main units. I now have enough Mic's and ear pieces, and hardware to fit MANY helmets, and configurations. I am totally happy, NOW, with the Sena 20s and the customer support they provided. I am enjoying this purchase, and would not hesitate from purchasing Sena products again, or recommending this product to friends or strangers. No, I am not on the Sena payroll, and have not been asked to write a testimonial. I am just a happy, satisfied customer. And that needs to be said as well.

I have no phone number. on 08-02-14, I clicked the "Submit a ticket to Sena" accurately described what was disappointing to me in the product i received, and explained the connection problem
I was having between the Sena 20, iphone 4s, and my 2013 Triumph Trophy SE.

08-07-14, I received an email from support, Wahyit Cheung, explaining how to connect all 3 items to work like I needed.

Wahyit then explained that the FM issue was being looked into, and Max volume is being addressed, and that volume that is too loud can damage hearing.
08-21-14 I received an email from FedEx with an RMA number and instructions to print a FedEx return label. One minute later, I received an email from Sena with the same RMA number, with instructions and explanation for the units to be returned. (the instructions stated that I keep all the accessories), also, an apologyy and invite to contact Sena with additional questions. I emailed and asked if I keep the old units until the new ones arrive. They said yes, and the new ones will be fully tested before release. Email notice, the new units were released for shipment on 09-11-14. Several more emails from Sena keeping me informed.  New units arrived 09-18-14. They remained in the box for a few days before opening, curious, but I didn't want to be disappointed.  All ended well as previously stated. My old units are 14060xxxx. My new units are 14080xxxx

I seem to be on the same path as Victor has been on. Submitted a ticket online on a Friday and got a first response on the following Wednesday afternoon. A little slow on the response time, but since then things are moving along nicely. I explained the FM problems I am having and they immediately said they will be sending out a brand new replacement Dual set. Very happy about that. Just received notice today (Thursday, - 6 days after I submitted the ticket) that they are being shipped. Did not say that I could keep the old accessories (other than what I used), but I may just ask, - as they have been very accommodating. All I can say from my experience, is that if you're having problems, submit a ticket.

I submitted a ticket 16 days ago and have yet to hear from anyone (email or phone). I am frustrated with the product and with customer service.  I'm beginning to feel like I'm being avoided.

I believe Sena will come through for everyone. Providing its a legitimate fault, and not just a "wish it could".  It can take time. I have learned the product can deliver what it advertised.

Its unfortunate that mmanufacturinghas failed to produce the product as promised. But failure happens. It takes time to correct all the failed product. Give them the bbenefitof the doubt.

    Their not selling snake oil.

Very quick response from Sena for me.  I have to deal with the retailer as I'm not in the US but they emailed back right away and I've got an RMA from them in under 24h of my initial contact with Sena.

I've shipped my 20s back to Sena at their expense and now just waiting for the new on to arrive. Fingers crossed it will work properly. Overall, I'm very happy with the way Sena are dealing with this.

I have had the Scala Rider G9 set for over a year now and just purchased the Sena 20S sets yesterday. Installed the first Sena unit and tried it out. FM reception is poor compared to the  Scala for sure but the Scala is not great either. Asked the factory Sena guys at the AIMExpo (yesterday) in Orlando about the antenna wire. They verified that it is the speaker wire. Running it over the top of the helmet helps a lot in reception for sure for those who have it routed down low around the rear of the helmet...changing to over the top will increase reception....been there done that. Since the antenna wire is over the top only this also makes the antenna fairly "directional" in reception vs a vertical antenna  (think of the old vertical antennas older cars had on the fenders). I plan on adding a second stand alone wire perpendicular to the antenna wire, taped in and touching the speaker wire, over the top of the helmet to increase reception. I think this will work.

Received my replacement dual pack yesterday. Serial # 1409xxxxx. I'm installing the new units today in my helmets, and taking a ride with my buddies on Saturday. Will give a review next week after my ride. My main issue wasthe FM radio reception. Sending back the old units today with the supplied shipping label. I'm glad Sena did the right thing. It's says alot about the Company & whether they are committed to the future or just in it for the money.

Have been using my SENA daily for over a month. The FM is annoying. Reception quality varies, some times it gets really bad. Since the 1.2 update, the FM actually craps out at times, requiring an FM off, and restart. When it works, it is OK (not great). I wish they could fix this soon. FM is old technology, and easy to resolve.

The other is that the VOX accidentally comes on all the time while riding. I need a way to fix it.

    Casey, Ashwin, all

Are you guys reading the other comments in this section? Sena is replacing the units that experience poor FM. An additional antenna wire is not the fix, or wishing for a fix wont fix it. Myself and others have successfully filled out the proper request form to Sena, and have received replacement units.  My new units work great. Please read about my experience, 1 page back, September 23 2014. 05:55PM. I have used the new units a month now, and I am very satisfied. The FM problem IS FIXED. Sena is supporting their customers.

    Are you reading the comments?

The new, replacement units are *NOT* correcting the poor FM performance.  They may work slightly better, but they're no where near as good as a 5yr old Cardo unit.  I've had 3 replacements on 3 units and my old Cardos get great FM reception in my living room while the Sena need to be 5-8 miles closer to town to get crackly reception.

Pretty disappointing...when you consider all the other issues this 20S roll out has been a disaster.

I agree. I had my unit replaced once due to the latch issue (did not click into base anymore). Both the old and new units have had the FM problem. I think it is a firmware issue, I am at 1.2 - but will downgrade today to 1.1 and test.

What is the serial number on the units you guys have? I live about 60 miles west from NY City, 7 miles from the Delaware River, and I receive NY stations as well as many in between. I live about 40 miles north of Philadelphia PA and receive Philly stations. Obviously as I travel, closer they get better. Range is not much different than the radio built into the Triumph.

I just received a replacement 20s....  I definitely appreciate Sena standing behind their product...  I have not gone riding with it yet, but have tested it in my house..  my original unit could only get one station in my house and it was a weak signal...  the replacement gets about 14.... so definitely a lot better.....   thx

it would be good to post serial number with a status of FM (3 star rating - good or usable *** / works sometimes, but not usable ** / does not work at all * ) .. 3 stars are good, One star is bad.

    S/n 140707589 - **

I can report, that both of my units had poor reception. They both where 1407.... (I suppose it's the year and month).

Sena replaced them with 1408 units and the both are great.

    So I am happy!

    Cheers

... and by the way, I updated them both to firmware version 1.2 and the reception is still great. ;-)

Again, I agree, my first units that I received 14060xxxx, had useless radio performance. I didn't buy Sena for the radio because I have one on my Triumph and I listen via bluetooth. I due ride other bikes that don't have radios. My replacement unit serial numbers are 14080xxxx-***. I think others who have received replacement units for FM problems are also receiving 14080xxxx.  The Sena radio is NOT as good as the radio in my Chevy or Audi. They cost over $40,000.00. Great radios in both cars. The Sena does many things very well, and is full of features. I don't think my FM radio needs are much different from many when riding. For where I live, by rides, my commutes, my trips, my bikes, and performance level of music needed, riding 20-to 80 mph with ear plugs, the Sena Radio is fine. Perhaps buying a dedicated radio only device may be a better solution for some.

I'm at 1409 now on all 3, but started with 1406 units.  Yes, the FM is better than the 1406, but still far from that of my older Cardo units.  Just because it's better than the abysmal original hardware doesn't mean it's good.

Well, the FM not meeting peoples' expectations was not a deal breaker for me.  But I just received my replacement 20S the other day.  It's now installed in the helmet and I'm testing/comparing to the original 20S which was one of the very first in distribution with serial number 140500193.  The FM radio is better now; almost as good as the FM radio in my Harley Limited (which loses signal at about 30- miles east of downtown Dallas).  With the original unit, I could receive one station at my home. This time, I routed the right speaker wire across the top of the helmet instead of around the back; which along with the new hardware, may have also made a difference.

Off topic, but the jog dial also feels a bit firmer with the new unit.  The old one's volume was adjusting itself with the wind coming around the windshield.
