Thanks Pete.  Perhaps it's just my particular earbud/cable combination that works for me.  I still do hear a tiny little buzz if I listen carefully but it's not annoying.   I agree Sena needs to fix it and let everyone thats registered know.  Shouldn't have to do a workaround.  I do however find it more convenient to plug in my earbuds to the extension with the helmet on vs trying to feel around for the jack in the mount.  Still waiting to hear if Andy's replacement works.

Andy Tourville, I did open a support ticket with Sena; however, at this time (days later) it remains in an "unassigned" state.

I do not know if Sena support is overwhelmed or just unresponsive.  At best, they are lagging behind; at worst, they are waiting until return period is up so that the user is stuck with the product.

I am also annoyed with the static. I agree it sounds like ground fault hum, but of course with the digital Bluetooth 4.0 it could be a problem with that. I use Shure in ear monitors and love the sound direct out of my iPhone. I will try the Life Case extension and if it works report it here. I used to have a Chatterbox and it would give some noise when broadcasting but not when just listening. Hope this gets fixed. I also have decided to gamble on keeping it past return time frame hoping it gets fixed.

I wouldn't worry about the time frame.  Warranty is for 2 years.  I have had excellent response from them a couple years ago on an SR10 that had problems after owning it for 6 months.  Returned mine and they sent me a new one.   I got it in a couple days.  Just make sure you have receipt of your purchase

Received new unit today, noise problem through earbuds fixed.  Regardless of what Sena should do, please open a ticket and get a replacement unit.  I opened my ticket on Sunday, July 27th in the am and Sena made a 1st response in the am of the 29th.  Good luck everyone

@Andy: By any chance is the FM reception better on the newer unit?

I cannot tell a difference in radio reception.  Reception for me is extremely poor indoors and good outside.  This is a comparison of just being inside my house or standing in my driveway outside.  I have not ridden and tried to use FM with the old or new, I do not use the FM feature of the 20s.

Both my units have bad noise.   Had top notch experience with Tristan at the Support Desk. who recommended that I return my dual pack.    Submitted the RMA info they needed a couple of days ago and I'm waiting for a response.  Returns are handled outside of the Support Desk and no way to track the status like the support ticket.  Hopefully, they're being handled quickly too.

I spoke with tech support, and he advised me that they obviously know about the issue, and have taken steps to fix it.   My dual pack both had the static issue, and were SN 1406xxxx.

This is what they sent me in an email:

    "Hello Dan,

The earbud noise is a known issue on some of our earlier models. You can check with your dealer to see if they have 20s units with serial numbers starting in 1407 and later, which the earbud noise issue has been addressed and fixed. If they don't, I would just get a refund and maybe get a set of SMH10's for now.

We currently are on backorder of the 20s units here as well, so we cannot ship out one to you at this point. We may have them available to ship out in a week or so. I apologize for the inconvenience.

    Regards,
    Hai"

I exchanged my set for SN 1407xxxx and the static issue is gone.

If you are having an issue with the earbud port on the Sena 20S then you can send our Technical Support department an email at support@sena.com or call them at 1-866-300-1235 or (408) 300-9797 for warranty service so that we can replace your defective headset.

My serial number starts with 1407 and I'm using earbuds but I'm getting both white noise and an electrical interference noise (the latter of which only affects the right earphone). They are both very annoying and make my ears ring slightly after a bit (tested it sitting at home in silence) :(
