While connected to another unit, I tried Music Sharing and it does not work. The music can only be heard from the unit initiating music sharing but even so, the sound is extremely choppy - music is heard in less than 1/4 sec sections and silence for about 1 sec before music is heard again for less than 1/4 sec and this repeats.

Red Leader Dear Sena Developers,
1. I would like to see the 20S Audio Multitasking fix prioritized so that I can play my own music on my 20S while chatting with an SMH5-FM and any other bluetooth intercom (no Music Sharing involved). I bought the 20S specifically for Audio Multitasking, so I think it is reasonable to expect it to work. (Currently talking with Sena Support about this.)
2. I would also like to see the 20S being capable of hosting Music Sharing with non-20S Sena models, given that it is the top model in Sena's lineup.

Tom Anderson Interested to see how you go with multitasking. I've had the same issue (music choppy and intercom dropouts while the music is running) since at least the 1.4 firmware. I've experienced this with a Sena 10S and a Sena SMH10 intercom partner, both with the same results.

Keith Just a note on choppy music. I'm running a SiriusXM radio and piping it to a Sena 20S as a "Bluetooth stereo device". The radio will get choppy if I'm in an intercom call. This happens on my unit as well as my wife's (sharing music between two 20S units). If we drop the intercom call, the choppiness goes away. If I open the intercom call again, the choppiness comes back. I'm thinking it's just the "Intercom-audio Overlay Sensitivity" level being set too high so that background noise is picked up by either mic while riding. The Sena units think we are talking and lowers the music, which could be perceived as "choppy". This is not something you'll notice while playing with it in a quiet living room. Factory default for the "Intercom-audio Overlay Sensitivity" is level 6, within a range of 1-10. So, lowering the sensitivity may reduce/eliminate the choppiness. Changing the sensitivity level is easily done via the "Configuration menu". I haven't tried it yet because I usually drop intercom calls when not talking anyway. So, it hasn't been a problem for me. I also haven't tried sharing music with a non-20S unit. So, I can't speak to that.

Ken Kimari The 20s has a a great noise cancelling microphone so multitasking works well between them. I have found however the SMH10 and others have mics that are not as noise cancelling and although the intercom feature works well there is at times some introduced wind noise which will cause ducking of the music (lowering it's volume). As keith mentioned lowering the sensitivity helps but if the smh10 picks up wind noise it will duck the music no matter what the setting is.

Tom Anderson Keith, I've tried the sensitivity on each setting - with varying results - but none of them made it possible to listen while talking. And many of them would also fail to open the intercom in a timely fashion too making it difficult to carry on a conversation. On some levels the choppiness is less pronounced (but it never goes away).
As for it ducking the volume and the perception being that it's choppy - this is not the case. There's a marked difference between it volume ducking and cutting out. In my case, the music STOPS during the chopiness and plays only in little bursts. A 3 min song could take 6 mins to complete, for example.
At the moment, multitasking is useless for me and I have it turned off. Having said that, my recollection is that it DID work very early on (1.1 firmware maybe?) when paired with an off-brand intercom.

Keith and Ken, thanks for the suggestion. I tried Level 1,6 and 10 without success inside a quiet environment (20S connected to SMH5-FM) - the 20S music (unshared) gets chopped up and stops after a while. I bought another dual pack and maybe see if I can replicate the intercom-chops-FM between two 20S units.
Tom, Sena Support is now suspecting that my 20S unit that is faulty. They were unable to replicate the Audio Multitasking bug (intercom chops music) between their 20S and SMH5 units.

After some intensive testing and a lighter wallet...
Issue #1:
Bruno Costa. Pop up your antenna up on your 20S when Audio Multitasking and your music (or radio) shouldn't chop anymore when intercom is active with a SMH5-FM. Unfortunately, I stumbled on John Gonzales' posts in the following forums shortly after finding the solution by purchasing a second 20S dual pack to run tests. http://support.sena.com/entries/50469354-Audio-multitasking-is-poorI also tried covering the open antenna with my hand when Audio Multitasking a 20S to an SMH5-FM and though the intercom signal was still good, my hand completely blocked the music signal from my phone. The closed/retracted antenna causes the choppy music/radio during Audio Multitasking + intercom. So putting up the antenna isn't just for range, but key for Audio Multitasking. Tests were performed within a 2 meter range.
Issue #2:
Tom Anderson, this antenna position thing (Issue #1) might work for you too when pairing your Audio Multitasking 20S to the 10S and SMH10. Pop your antenna up, turn on the Audio Multitasking option, and try it again when you have the chance. Let me know how it goes! :D
The Intercom Overlay Sensitivity is a bugger to play with so far. I have say something really loud and random to wake up the intercom before chatting (while Audio Multitasking), otherwise the first one or two syllables of the conversation go unheard. When not Audio Multitasking, the intercom doesn't require a wake up call.
So far, the Intercom Overlay Sensitivity Level (IOSL) test goes as follows for two 20S units, using default boom mics with windscreens:
Sena 20S Unit 1: IOSL set at 1
Sena 20S Unit 6: IOSL set at 6
Test 1: Unit 1 (Audio Multitasking) paired intercom Unit 6 = intercom works flawlessly
Test 2: Unit 1 paired intercom Unit 6 (Audio Multitasking) = requires loud initial vocal input to wake up intercom
Test 3: Unit 1 paired intercom Unit 6, both Audio Multitasking = requires loud initial vocal input to wake up intercom
So far it seems that IOSL 6 requires a louder initial vocal input to wake up the intercom, contrary to what Sena is saying (see link) but more testing is needed.

Issue #3:
20S cannot host Music Sharing to an SMH5-FM at this time. Tried three different 20S v1.5 units with 2 different SMH5-FM v1.2 units. Works the other way around though (SMH5-FM can host, but you can't intercom simultaneously during the session because the SMH5-FM doesn't Audio Multitask). -
Keith Just an update on my experience with music sharing 20S -> 20S after an extended trip. My trip consisted of approx. 600 miles and 16 hours over 3 days. We rode around ~5 hours per day (sharing music the entire time). The music sharing feature dropped out once. That was for about 15 seconds and it reconnected itself after that. The only choppiness I experienced was either due to: 1. My SiriusXM radio losing the signal in areas one would expect (deep canyons or surrounded by tall trees) or 2. When I was in an intercom call, the 20S units picked up background noise and lowered the music volume. I realize that most (if not all) of the issues mentioned in this thread are 20S -> other models/brands. But, the 20S -> 20S compatibility and performance I experienced was outstanding.
A note on battery life of the 20S units during this trip as sharing music will obviously drain the battery faster than just in standby mode.
After ~4 hours the first day, both units showed medium battery level. I recharged both units that night.
After ~6 hours the next day, the units both showed high battery level. I did not recharge either unit that night.
After ~6 hours the next day, my 20S unit (the unit paired with the SiriusXM radio and sharing music) shut down due to low battery. The other 20S still showed a medium battery level.
Again, the music sharing was turned on the entire time. Also, intercom calls were open only when talking and dropped when not. We didn't talk a lot.
So, I got approx. 12 hours of combined standby, music sharing and limited talk time on the last full charge of my unit. The 20S is supposed to get 13 hours of talk time and/or 8 hours of FM radio use. I don't know where music sharing battery use is expected to fall in there, but my experience falls in between those. Which isn't a surprise.

Red Leader Sena support is aware that the 20S cannot host Music Sharing to an SMH5-FM. They say that the SMH10s and the 10C do work.

If you did it the music sharing Will work But the problem it is not clear and second heads will have lag in music

Sena Marketing The Music Sharing feature on the 20S can't be used while in a Group Intercom because you can't use the standard intercom at the same time which is necessary to connect to a specific person that you want to share the music with. When you are using the Music Sharing feature between two 20S headsets, then flip up the antenna on both headsets to maximize the Bluetooth connection between both of them since you are connected over the intercom and listening to music at the same time.
