Would love to see a Goldwing factory audio/CB interface!
-
Thank you for your suggestions. We are supposed to release a Bluetooth stereo adapter and one of the accessory cables would be a cable to support the on-board audio system of motorcycles such as Honda Gold Wing. It is supposed to be coming in the spring time. Please stay tuned awhile until we release a new product.

I too would be REALLY interested in this product. Would be great if it was in time for spring season!!

I am hopeful the bluetooth connection between the Sena SMH10 and the factory goldwing will include the ability to listen factory stereo with a A2DP stereo profile, which by default will include the CB reception, and then a easy switch (one press of the jog dial?) to the headset profile to transmit over the CB as required. I understand that only one profile can be active at a time, so for me, I am listening to the GW Stereo and CB reception often and only transmit now and then.
BTW I love my pair of SMH10s, so my wife and I are very excited to hear of the upcoming GW connectivity.

Goldwing customer here, too.

Just curious, is the GW interface going to be based on the SM10, or will the GW interface also allow two-way CB Radio connectivity?
Rick

The GW interface is supposed to be based on the SM10 with a connector as an accessary which supports only A2DP stereo profile. But it doesn't allow to connect two-way CB Radio via HFP handsfree profile because of the limited Bluetooth technology. Sena Bluetooth two-way radio adapter, SR10 is now able to connect GW to comunicate with the radios. And you have to know that the stereo music from the CB through SR10 is streamed in mono. We are kindly asking you if it is OK or any other good idea?

So, do I have this correct?: The SR10 can right now connect to the Goldwing audio system and supply mono audio (music, gps instructions, CB) to my SMH10, and I would also be able to transmit voice to the CB? My passenger's SMH10 paired with my own would not be able to hear anything from the Goldwing audio system, but would be able to hear me. But, because the Goldwing audio system coming through the SR10 is HFP, it will over-ride the intercom meaning that I cannot actually have a conversation with my passenger as long as there is any music, CB, GPS instruction coming from the bike?
Alternatively, if I want to hear the bike audio system in stereo, then I would need to purchase the SM10, which could pair with both mine and my passenger's SMH10, but I would not ever be able to transmit to the CB?
I like Rick's idea above best - have the ability to listen to stereo audio from the bike (both passenger and driver), and with a press of the jog button (or two presses in quick succession or some other combination, or better yet be able to use the bikes PTT button) be able to switch to mono and be able to transmit to the CB (driver only would be ok).
Regards,
Kerry

This a good step in the right direction however, I believe the the SM10 can be enhanced, through programming to continue to allow A2DP stereo profiles to connect to my and my wife's SMH10ANDTo also allow my SMH10 to link into the SM10 with one of my headsets HFP headset profiles which would still receive music from the GW though only in mono, AND it will also allow me to transmit over the CB. This would give SENA a more competitive product then the competition currently has (see link below).I believe it should be possible to have the SMH10 headset switch (tap the jog button) between the stereo A2DP profile (for listening to the GW system which includes listening to the CB) and by tapping the jog button, switch the Headset to the mono HFP headset profile and allow the SMH10 to transmit when the GW CB push to talk is pressed.AND I would also like to be able to switch my SMH10's HFP headset profile between the SM10 and my Zumo 550, so I can pick up phone calls now and then.To help offset the cost of enhancing the software to perform this changes, it should also be noted that the Harley Touring crowd, have the same requirements and combined with the Gold Wing customers provide a solid business case moving forward :)RespectfullyRick0

Thank you for your suggestions, Rick and Karry. We are studying the possibility for switching the modes (A2DP, HFP) on connection with GW interface.
SR10 is able to transmit voice to the CB by using Sena DIY cable that has an open end you can make to fit any connection port and will be released within this month.
At the current firmware of SMH10(v3.3) you don't have an intercom conversation with your passenger while listening to GPS instruction or CB talks. But in the next firmware(v4.0) you will have "Multipoint function" that enables you to listen to the turn-by-turn voice instruction from GPS or CB talks while you are in an intercom conversation as well as on the phone without interrupting either one. The firmware will be released sooner or later.
SM10 is a dual streaming stereo audio Bluetooth dongle that has only A2DP profile which means you are not able to use CB with the one.

What is the part number for the Sena DIY cable that will connect to the GW intercom plug?
Rick

DIY cable is not released yet, but it will not be long. We will keep you informed about the new product. And you can surely make it to be connected to GW intercom plug. Thank you for your patience.

SENA releases 2-way radio cable with open-end for SR10 which you can make a connector for your own radio.

So, what I peruse here is:.............The "Goldwing" dongle (SM10, or SR10) is only a partial interface. The desire for all Harley, late BMW, Goldwing riders is to exactly mimic a J&M, EdSets, Chatterbox, etc. wired headset, only without the wire. Hence, stereo, and the use of onboard cb (full duplex), and aux inputs for external GPS, radar detector, etc. May have to settle for that AKE, but it's not quite arrived, either, but close.

Hello Robert.
I was very close to pulling the trigger on the AKE, however, from what I can tell, the unit and software is not updateable. With all the new BT versions coming, I am hesitant to drop 250$ on a unit that I cannot keep current. So I am still, searching... waiting... keeping the pressure up here with Sena. :)
Rick.

Well this isn't exactly done - Once the cable is available you have to solder it together with a connector and hope you understand enough to get it right. It would be nice for Sena to make a cable with both ends that work with the Gold Wing, my guess is that you'd get more sales the the wide variety of individual cables you currently stock.

Is it possible for the SM10 (or the SR10) to be used simply as a bridge? In other words, transmit & receive exactly as a wired headset, without the wire. Never mind the PTT control of the CB.
0 -
Andrew - Yes it is. Use this http://wingstuff.com/products/21549-5-pin-din-to-3-5mm-headset-adaptor?from_search=1 and connect to SR10.
Sena - Please don't forget the CB use - the biggest thing Goldwing and Harley riders need is cable that will bridge the SR10 with the 5 pin Goldwing. The Goldwing forums are filled with people looking for such a fill gap to use their CB with Bluetooth.

James is correct. A cable for GW and Harley riders to use their onboard CBs is a very big deal. I know of at least a half dozen riders in our HOG Chapter alonge that would buy this immediately. Probably another dozen or so who would upgrade to the SENA wireless option if this were available.

Received my make your own connector today and this does not seem to be a solution. Sena Correct me if I'm wrong , but my pin connector for my gold wing requires 5 pin assignments and the make your own cord has only 4 wires. see pins connectors http://www.angelfire.com/ok4/wingman26/headsetpins.html
Goldwing: Pin 1 Microphone input, pin 2 Microphone ground, Pin 3 headset grounds, pin 4 Headset right Pin 5 Headset Left

James, thank you for your feedback. "2-way Radio Cable with Open-end" is not designed for the onboard CB audio system. So the pin map doesn't match properly. The "2-way Radio Cable for CB" you mentioned is under development. We will keep you informed later.

To get the stereo capabilty of the SM10 and transceiver capabilty of the SR10 can the SM10 and SR10 be paired to SMH10 simultaniously?
0 -
John, Thank you for your feedback. You're right. Both SM10 and SR10 will be paired to SMH10 simultaneously. You may use phone selective pairing for SR10 and media selective pairing for SM10. Please refer to SMH10 User's Guide (http://www.senabluetooth.com/downloads/manual/UsersGuide_Sena_SMH10-v4.0.pdf).

That seems like an awfully pricy way to get full functionality out of a blue tooth system. It seems like the Gold Wing / Harley owners just need a simple $40 bluetooth dongle with a separate power cord to plug into their 5 pin connection. Whoever comes up with that dongle - which would work with all the bluetooth units on the market - would sell a ton of them.

I thought I would let everyone know the conversation I have been having with "ROGER" from SENA on the bluetooth dongle for the Goldwing GL1800. I too have been waiting for the dongle to allow for CB functionallity. His reponse is below.
Dennie
Hi Dennis,
Not that we are aware of at this time.
Thanks!

Roger,I was hoping that SENA had a solution for that as I’m still waiting. Do you know if there is anything in the works for that function yet?

Ok I have a AKE dongle that seems to work great for hooking bike to headset. I still have phone via bluetooth however loss all other conections with headset. It stopped working and getting new one this week. At $250.00 I would have liked it to work with two headsets and not just one. Wife not riding again yet, so this and one of the below allows passanger to hear me but not me them. Now friend has another friend that has two on harley and they love it how ever again kills bike to bike via bluetooth. Now with this AKE dongle maybe old headset could plug in and bike to bike bluetooth like my passanger
A 29.00 trasmitter from amazon and a ed-set adaptor workes good for you to have any of the goldwing audio to head set and keep the phone and headset to headset. You can not transmit over the bike with anything I have found to date other then the AKE. (it wines up to 2200 rpms) So I have just requested adaptor plate that would hardwire to goldwing (or any other bike set up for headsets) for those times I want CB. If it fit between the unit and helmet we could have both worlds cheap. no dongle needed for bike.
To date I have spent much on this experiment and the cheap version with no CB works when riding alone and only needing audio from bike navi. I generally play music out side speakers to make up for less loud pipes on goldwing. So only time I need bike audio in headset is on trips with CB, or with other bikes with CB. The navi just recalculates on its own no need to tell the bitch in the trunk to do so.(LOL)

ok here i go either combined the two SR-10 and the SM10 to one unit and plug to motorcycle. Or just make base plate that plugs in to motorcycle headset and get another SMH10 unit and you have mic to bike when in conferance with that headset????
seems the uneversal baseplate with boom or full face helmet mike would allow a cheap DIY solution.

Does anybody have the bluetooth adapter that was used back when cell phones weren't bluetooth capable? These were used to connect to bluetooth headsets. If you have one of these laying around, can you see if it will pair with the SMH10? Thanks.

Im kinda do the same thing but backwards.. I have a pair of the SMH10 and love them for phone, music, and talking to my passenger. The problem I have is my Father rides a Gold Wing, and is on the CB. I want to be able to talk to him on his setup. What do I need to get? Obviously a CB, but what else? I want to be able to use my SMH10 to talk and hear, is it possible? I don't mind pushing a button to talk, but would be better if it was voice activated, like when I am talking to my passenger. Whats the deal guys please help!!
Thanks,
Eric

Spring has come and gone and still don't see any movement on the interface with the Goldwing CB and the SMH10. Please advise

Sena, is the problem with making the CB functional through the interface due to the lack of a PTT button on the headset?
