Pressing Jog dial to Mute Mic during Cell Phone Use
Pressing the Jog dial to Mute the microphone when using the cell phone (like you do to pause music playback) would be of great use during some calls when you need to listen but not speak, such as during conference calls.

This would be an outstanding feature!!! Conference calls are a big part of my job, and mainly you listen and chime in occationally. You really would NOT have to MUTE the phone ( controlling that may be impossible ) BUT to reduce MIC volumne to ZERO to simulate a MUTE would do it.

This would be wonderful

Thank you for your suggestion. We will do the feasibility of function to mute the microphone during phone call. We will keep you informed later.

This is a duplicate of my request (http://support.senabluetooth.com/entries/20926082-Leverage-Jog-button-while-on-a-call-to-Mute) and we haven't seen an update for 18 months now. Are you going anywhere with this request?

Ditto on the above feature request. I really thought this would be a basic feature when I purchased my 20s with the intention of being able to attend conference calls while on the road. Seems like a long time in R&D.

Checking in as well. This is a critical feature for me to be able to mute calls while I am riding. I am listening to conference calls much of the time during my commute.

I need this feature! Not being able to mute kills my ability to conference call. I'm holding out hope that Sena will implement this after the 3 years we've been waiting...

Bumping this feature request as well. Much needed, in fact, I would not have bought if I knew it didn't have it. Such a basic feature....

I'm another user that would really appreciate a mute function for phone calls while riding. 0 -
+1 what a bummer. I take conference calls every day to and from work and would immediately buy a 20S if I could easily mute it

I've been looking for this for a while and would become an evangelist of the company that did it. I don't need it for phone calls because I don't typically talk on the phone and ride. Also, I have a great stereo system on my bike and so I don't use my headset for music. What I do is use it for an intercom system. I ride a Harley with a half-helmet and have a short windshield. So all of the Ultras are fine but everyone hears wind noise from me and I can't listen to my stereo or everyone does. A mute or push to talk feature makes so much sense and would be so easy to implement that it seems absurd that we are having to ask for it.

Benny Baggott, I *think* that what you describe already exists. The request here for the mute function is in reference to *during a phone call* but you are speaking of *during intercom*. You should be able to address this by turning OFF VOX operation. This way, the intercom doesn't turn the mic on when a sound is made, but the mic is on only when you press the jog dial to talk. You can *hear* the intercom all the while, but they can't hear you until you press it.
Hold the jog button until "config settings", release the dial, then rotate the dial to "VOX OPERATION", then press the *PHONE button*

If that is the case I will buy 3 tomorrow. My understanding was that VOX is simply the voice commands, not the rider to rider communication, which is what I want to mute or "press to talk". If someone from Sena could confirm I would appreciate it. Scala has a quick mute but it mutes the mic and the speakers, which helps if you want to yell at someone across a parking lot without blowing your group's ear drums, but does nothing for the "noisy rider" during the ride.

It's section 9.3 of the manual
http://www.sena.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/UsersGuide_SMH10_v5.1.1_en_1507222.pdf
It's called VOX Intercom or Voice activated intercom. With it turned OFF, sounds, wind, blowing into the mic will not turn the mic on. You will simply tap the button to talk and tap again when done.
Sounds like you're about to spend some money, eh?

Re-reading this, I see that this thread was referring to the 20S while I was referencing the SMH10. The 20S doesn't have the same set up but the same effect would be controlled using the "audio overlay" control and setting the sensitivity to "1". I've not used a 20S so I can't testify as to the effectiveness of this. I CAN testify to the effectiveness of the SMH10's setting as I rode and intercommed with a guy wearing a 3/4 helmet and we used the VOX Intercom setting to turn his off. The tap to talk worked very well for our long ride.

I do wish that this forum would allow me to "edit" my posts(!) The newest communicator from SENA, the 10S, has the older SMH10's functionality, allowing you to turn "off" the voice-activated intercom..

Over four years since my original request, and still not a word...

Ricky, your personal experience is enough for me to buy a pair and test them before my trip out West. I know that it isn't the same as muting the mic during a call, but it could be what I need. It would be great to get confirmation from a Sena rep in addition to some commentary on Michael's request because it is prevalent on the web. People are even wiring in their own switches.

+1 on the Mute function request. I usually ride 100 miles one way to work and usually need to attend at least 1 conference call during the ride. The 20s has really good noise blanking and usually the other end can't hear my bike or the wind --- until I have to stop for some reason and then go through the gears again. Then I get "Lets wait for Robert to get up to speed" from the group.
A Mute function would be awsome.

Ok, my buddies and I just used three Sena 20s units on a 3,000 mile trip out West. Overall, they functioned better than expected and far superior to the Scala units we had used before. We were able to strike up group conversations at will but they were a little touchy. You hit one wrong button and it takes you somewhere you didn't mean to be. Many times we had to have the person that started the conversation shutoff his unit, turn it back on, rejoin the intercom session, and then cancel the session. So I remain convinced that the absence of a "mute mic only" function is a shameful thing from a product development standpoint. The business that I am in is not unlike this one and with everyone jockeying to keep up and differentiate from the competition, this should be low hanging fruit. Hell, develop new mic hardware that has a switch in it for crying out loud. Your customers as well as your competitor's customers want to listen openly (intercom and phone) without having the mic open. Do the right thing Sena, even if you have to redesign the unit hardware. You guys might be riding high right now, but let us not forget MySpace, Blackberry, and so many others who rested on their laurels.

Wow 5+ years and so many devices later. They still can't prioritize the mic Mute function.
Cardo Scala's $90 Q-solo can mute the mic by pushing on + and - vol buttons at the same time, while being weather proof. My $269 Sena 20s still can't.

Ashwin - forgotten all about the feature request. unfortunately, I dropped my helmet, which happens. and it landed right on the SENA, the device survived, no problem. BUT the plastic mounting hardware was broken. At the time, I also asked for replacement parts, I could not obtain them. So I went back to wired interconnect, better quality, more reliable, cheaper. Still a good product. However, I will check out Q-SOLO, although it is $90 more expensive than my cable solution :)

Has this, or any of the other requests gone anywhere? I don't see a mute option on my 30k (less than a year old) and would really love it it had one.
