Having to pull the sd card or connect to a laptop every 2 to 4 hours (1080p 16 or 32Gb card) to empty the card is unreasonable.  Video tagging is nice but the 10C also needs continuous loop recording for the large majority of users who want to let the camera record all the time and pull files of interest off only when something interesting occurs.  Dashcams generally record continuously and support tapping a button to mark the current (and maybe near-time) file(s) to not be overwritten.

I agree that it would be awesome to have the continuous loop feature. However, unless and until this feature is implemented, here is what I do:

Have 2 SD cards: 1 for recordings you actually care about, and one for everyday recording (can be relatively small, like 4 or 8gb). Use the small one for every day recording, and record at all times. When it fills up, simply format the SD card in the camera configuration menu on the 10c. To access it, hold the camera button down for 8 seconds, then use the jog dial until it says "Format SD card". Then hit the phone button, and let it format. Then begin recording as normal.

Its true that its not actually looping, but it has most of the same function as what a looping recording would do. Besides, if nothing happened that was "eventful" during the time that you filled up the card, you won't really miss deleting the memory off the card anyway to start all over. Most, if not all, of the footage was likely junk anyway. Of course, if there is something that you want to save, you'd need to pull it off the card before formatting. So that's the only thing.

That's why you have the other SD card, in case you do want to save something from the first one, or if you're going to go for a ride that you know you'll want to have a record of.

Its a workaround for now, until the feature is implemented :)

I was going to open a new suggestion but I went through this and this is what I was going to write .... the dashcam feature is really important for me and I assumed that this basic feature was implemented on the 10C else I would have not bought it.

Ideally the 10c should create 5mins files (or any other value), and loop them by deleting the oldest file. When a file is tagged, the file is saved or write protected.

Indeed its a very important function that is miss out.

Till now since May 24 , no sign of Sena to add to the 10C..

Yes! if i was to crash i only have 90 seconds to save the footage?! come on! i only ride with it in tagging mode. Also, the battery life with the camera on is only 90-120 mins, and if you have a 32gb SD card you can record over 330 mins! so if you had a loop record feature and you crashed on your own and nobody found you for an hour or no one came to turn off the camera, the battery would just die after 120 mins anyway, meaning the footage of the accident would be safe and wouldnt be over-written even if the camera carried on running! only after over 300 mins of loop recording would untagged footage be recorded over. That requires removing the helmet and recharging atleast 2 or 3 times.

It is a very basic function sena missed out. SHAME

would love to see this added to the 10c that i purchased already, video tagging is ok, but in combination with a loop/dashcam feature would be the best and make a good product great.

If a loop is introduced the video tagging can be removed.

To tag videos, I use the normal video recording, then when I want to note something I just tag a photo and use its timestamp to find what I want in the video.

I purchased this 10C knowing that a "Black Box" feature was not included YET in this all-in-one; after several calls to sales reps to verify, this in my humble opinion is a glaring oversight.  If I get nailed, I don't have time to tag my video or snap a photo...Nor do i wish to have to reformat my card every time I fill it up with my commute which is 110 miles each way or roughly 2.5-3.5 hours of video.  I have an external USB battery to power the 10C to make sure my whole commute is filmed just in case.

Here's how to fix it:  Two separate Camera functions: Loop "Black Box" mode and Video Tagging mode
    What it should include:
-User defined segment times should be included.  3, 5, 10 min segments.  Defined through the app or manager.
-A video tagging option should be included in loop "black box" mode in case you're filming someone else getting nailed.  The 90 second locking tag is acceptable.  A sena voice verification "video tagged" would confirm your selection.

-Picture snapping in loop "black box" mode, single or burst.  Again with some sort of voice verification "photo tagged"

    Camera Function "Black box" mode
Camera on and off - same as defined
Start/Stop recording - same as defined
Take photo - same as defined
Tag a video - Press camera button for 3 seconds

I'd love to see a looping option.  I too think this is a glaring oversight.

Also for note; I'm running with 200GB microSD cards without a problem, allowing nearly 24 hours of recording time per card at 1080p.  I carry a good sized flat USB charge pack in my breast pocket and have a coiled USB cable that I keep the 10c plugged into.  With typical commuting, I'm getting a couple weeks between charges.

I've been a Sena SMH10 owner since they first came out (the round connector style) and was really excited to see the 10c option come out.  I'd buy one today, except for the constant loop option not being available.  Like others have posted, I would mostly be using it as a dashcam and need the loop feature.  Please make it happen!

I got the 10C back when I got on a bike in February. A colleague's son also had the 10C and used it for this purpose. Because the camera doesn't have the looping feature that we (including myself) would all like Sena to implement on this device, my colleague had to rebuild the file for evidence purposes when his son was hit and killed going through a green light (car went through red from the left side).  A very tedious process on a 35+ minute file, thankfully we're both IT guys and we were able to rebuild the file and he was able to submit the file as evidence that the woman in question was running a red light. Wont bring back his son, though.

Meaning I got the 10C back when I got back to riding after a 2 year break this February.

This is one of my primary reasons for wanting a device like this. The video tagging mode is good but if there is an accident where I'm not able to press the button for whatever reason (might be trapped or unconscious) then I'll have no record of it.

Programmatically it would be very simple to implement. The tagging mode already records the last interval. All that would be needed would be to automatically save this to memory with a header saying it not permanent. When the tagging mode is turned on again it could be deleted.

The new tagging interval control of allowing 1,3 or 5 minutes means this would work fine for dash cam kind of mode.

The only option right now is to always record a video & delete it every trip which is a real pain when I commute.

Awesome.  Now if I could just get the Sena Device Manager to recognize my 10C, I could upgrade the firmware !

Smfollen, just a pro-tip just in case you're using a larger than 32gb card... While the 10c has no issues recording to properly formatted sd cards with capacities well into the hundreds of gigs, it simply will not update firmware if they're installed while you're trying to do so. I have a spare 32gb on hand just for the purpose of updating the firmware until Sena corrects the issue.

I can't upgrade my 10C. It keeps on returning an error code saying device not recognised. Does it on different computers and with different cables. Sena were very helpful. Told me to contact the seller (who was in Germany)

Interesting Dave, mine absolutely refused to with my 64gb card... The software would not recognize the device at all... Threw in my 32gb and voila, updated like a champ...

I have an open ticket with Sena regarding Sena Device Manager not recognizing the 10C. The ticket has been referred to their R&D department.  If multiple people contact support with the issue, it will probably get higher attention.  Apparently it works great for some, but not for others.  You can find several posts on the subject of Device Manager not recognizing various devices.  They do recommend a 32GB sd card while upgrading firmware.

For those having issues, have you tried:
    1. Using a sd card of 32gb or less...
    2. Reset the device using the pin hole on the inboard side and then reconnecting...

in fact on device manager you are told to use a 32gb card or less.

Loop recording worked perfectly! :) I am really happy with this update!

Looking forward to heal from my fracture leg!

Odd I can't find anything about it on my device or in the instructions, I updated the firmware to 2.0 about a week ago. How do you access the loop mode?

Gunboat, from the phone app side you can change the video settings... You do however need to go to the Apple or Playstore to get the latest version that supports the new firmware in the 10c.

OMG, the 64gb thing is why I couldn't update my 2 devices. Put a 32 in there and finally...  I had to warranty one of the devices because the speak went out, it wouldn't connect to my phone or other headsets, kept crashing, etc. So when I got the new one and everything worked but the upgrade I was still kind of bummed (other device has some issues, but they're probably related to the 64gb card as well).

Good to know that 200+gb cards will record fine, I commute a lot, not usually on my bike but I also have dash cams in my car that a larger than 64gb card would be extremely useful for me.

Now, anyone know how to actually USE the loop feature? I upgraded and just put the unit in recording mode since I couldn't find any other instructions. does tagging mode activate the loop feature?

My battery life SUCKS.  From the day I bought it, I doubt I get 15 minutes of video recording out of the thing.

I carry a big flat battery in my jacket and run a coiled USB cable up to my camera, getting about 20 hours per charge that way.  Works really well, when I remember to plug it in.
