Pairing Problem - iphone, Garmn 590, TPX BT Radar Detector
Proud owner of the 20S, but there appears to be a problem with pairing to two A2DP profiles. I am trying to add in the TPX BT radar detector adapter:
1. Pair iphone as mobile device - works fine, music and calls.
2. Add in TPX as either a second mobile device OR as selective A2DP.
Result = lose music from iphone
Second try:
1. Pair iphone as mobile device - works fine, music and calls.
2. Add in Garmin 590 as a second mobile device GPS.
This works well, but cannot add in the TPX without losing the iphone. Cannot pair the TPX to the Garmin as no music comes through.
Has anyone got these three devices to co-exist in some form? Ideally I would pair the iphone direct to the Sena so that I can start/stop music with the jog dial.
thanks
Simon

Simon, the 20S can only connect to one A2DP device at a time. If you have two device trying to connect to A2DP only one can connect.

Are you using the TPX Bluetooth Transmitter for the TPX Radar and Laser Detection System 2.0? If so, then:
As with all our headsets, the 20S only has one A2DP Bluetooth profile available for a device to use. You can either use it for your iPhone or your radar detector so it has to be one or the other. However, since you mentioned that you want to use the 20S to listen to and control the music from your iPhone then it is recommended to hard wire the radar detector by using the 3.5mm to 2.5mm cable to connect the 20S to the radar detector through the AUX port on the 20S clamp kit and the AUX port on the wiring harness of the radar detector. With this setup the radar detector will have a higher priority than the music on your iPhone (which will be paired as a Mobile Phone).
If you do not want to hard wire your radar detector to your 20S and want to use Bluetooth then a second recommendation would be to use the Sena SR10 (http://www.sena.com/product/adapters/sr10/). You will need to hard wire the radar detector using the 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable (that comes with the SR10) from of the AUX ports on the SR10 to the AUX port of the wiring harness of the radar detector. You can pair your iPhone to the 20S as a Mobile Phone then you can pair the SR10 to the 20S as a Second Mobile Phone.
If you want to use all 3 devices (iPhone, Garmin GPS, and the radar detector) then it is best to:
1. Pair the iPhone directly to the Garmin GPS.
2. Pair the GPS to the 20S using Phone Selective Pairing.
3. Pair the iPhone to the 20S using Media Selective Pairing.
4. Plug the radar detector into the SR10 using the 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable.
5. Pair the SR10 to the 20S using Second Mobile Phone Pairing.

Is there a reason why the 20S headset got 2 HFP profiles and only 1 A2DP profile??? I don't know of anybody that has a Sena and no Smart phone! I have bought 2 Sena 20S and a SM10 and I still have to chose between Music+Phone calls or just Phone calls and my Radar detector. All I want to do is B.T. my "SMART" phone for music+Calls and be able to hard wire my Radar Detector via SM10...but no I need to spend MORE money on a SR10 and I don't even own a 2-way Radio... I'm out $650 Bucks and can't get 2 things to work on the Latest and Greatest B.T. Headset???? The info on Sena web sites are very misleading... I though the 20S would let me connect Phone/GPS/MP3/Radar and share music talk up to 1.5 miles between bikes... (I would be VERY happy if it would do half of what it claims it will do) I have used alot of comm equipment over the last 30 years...chatter box, StarComm, Audio Comm, and now Sena... How much money does a man have to spend to get a phone/music/ and Radar via Blue Tooth???

Jim,
You should have bought the SR10 adapter for your radar. The SR10 is a HFP device only. You can pair the SR10 using Multipoint pairing on the 20S to use the 2nd HFP on the 20S.

I have a Garmin Zumo 590, an Iphone 6 and the Sena 20S. how should I be pairing it so that everything works. I would like to control the media through the 590 but the content comes from the Iphone. I was also wondering if there is any way to have the apple voice dial work? Every time I pair it differently something stops working. I would also like to pair the phone to the 20 so that I can use the app to check the settings but when I do that the phone stops. No matter what I do the "Next voice command does not work.
Thanks

I'm also in the same situation. I have an iphone6, Garmin Zumo 590 and TPX radar. Could this be solved with adding a TPX Bluetooth adapter rather than an SR10? 0 -
Jason,
As long as the Bluetooth adapter uses "HFP" to connect to the headset. Most Bluetooth adapters I've seen are A2DP.
Using A2DP Bluetooth adapter will conflict with your phone's music. And A2DP is a low priority in our headsets.

What's the difference between the SM10 and SR10? 0 -
Simon, I can tell you this... you only have 1 A2DP profile...and this is not due to Sena it's just the nature of BlueTooth... so you can not connect two bluetooth devised w/ A2DP.... I have a valentine1 radar and my smart phone... I bought the BlueTooth fob from Valentine1 and was still not able to pair BOTH the phone and radar due to the lack of a second A2DP profile. My last resort to get my radar (audio) into my helment is to buy the 2.5 mm jack and hard wire it from the 20S aux jack to my audio out on the Valentine audio addapter. Sucks I know...but need the RADAR!!!!!!!!!!!!

so what is the 2nd phone pairing for? could I pair 2 different phones...if so....why would it work versus the A2DP with a transmitter...why do I need the SR10?
Can I use the SM10 instead for the Radar Detector?

Maybe a dumb question but........
Is it possible to connect the aux out from the TPX to the audio in of the Zumo, pair the iPhone to the Zumo then pair the Zumo to the 20S to get all of the sounds?
Jim

Unfortunately there's no audio in on the Zumo.

Jason,
The Zumo 590 wiring harness does have an audio in (stereo line-in audio) 3.5mm connection as shown in this diagram: http://static.garmincdn.com/pumac/zumo_590_Wiring_Specs_EN.pdf.
Seems to me that this "MIGHT" just solve the problem without going through BT. Whatcha think?

Ah yes you're right, it might work. Already stumped up for the SR10 so problem solved.
Sena - would this be a solution?

Jason,
I went ahead and ordered an SR10 as well but since I have not installed the new Zumo yet, I was thinking that this could be an easier (read....less confusing) setup. Maybe Sena can give us some input.

I can get radar output via SR10 and also music from iPhone 6 to the Sena, but when I make a phone call, I cannot hear anyone talking on the other end of the phone call even though I think they are hearing me talk. I'm doing this with the Zumo 590 disconnected from any dock or power supply (battery only). Do I need to have the Zumo connected in it's dock to get the system to work.

Now that firmware v1.6 is out, does having x2 A2DP profiles negate the need for a SR10?

I would love to hear an answer to Jason's question on 12/27
