Sena 20S EVO "Failed to recognize device. Cannot open USB" Error
There are many posts about "Failed to recognize device. Cannot open USB" being a PC or Software issue. In my experience, it is neither! On Windows 7, 10 & 11 I had the "Failed to recognize device. Cannot open USB" error message and went through nearly all of the accepted wisdom and attempts to "fix" the issue when it was simply the Micro USB cable at fault. Not all micro USB's allow for data transfer it would seem. I didn't get a micro USB with the unit so I used one from my sons Walkie-Talkie charger and RC Toy car without any luck in updating the firmware. I had my device for 3 years before trying to use it, so the advice is old!!
Anyway, I used a micro USB cable from an old Nokia Phone and everything worked out fine. I also tried it with an old Windows phone cable to confirm, and that worked as well. Using others, I found that the "Failed to recognize device. Cannot open USB" error only appears with Micro USB cables if that USB cable is from an RC Toy battery charger.
Hope this helps somebody keep more of their hair when setting the EVO20 up (or others) and installing the latest firmware. Bluetooth pairing is a whole different issue and needs experimentation for more recent phones and operating systems but needless to say the unit can be paired following the user guidance but sometimes trial and error works too!

Hello,
Thank you for sharing this! we do advocate this all the time and some times users don't take it seriously when it can be as simple as that.
Users need understand there are many different cables for it purpose, some are data transfer only, some are power only, when in reality we need both! so that $3 amazon cable might not be the solution in this scenario.
again thank you for taking your time and letting other users know about this~ -
@slope game Sharing your experience is appreciated! It's true that minor issues can cause the most stress. My device didn't recognize the USB connection, and it was the cord. It's important to examine our wires, especially with so many differences. Your Nokia phone cable tip is great—I'll remember it. Bluetooth pairing might be hard with different devices. All about trial and error! Thanks again for your insights. This should help someone avoid a headache!
