Don't buy the 30K if you have friends with 20s or 10s

I bought the 30K and found out it's no better than the 10s. To be fair if you have friends who have only 30K or on its own you will love it.
But if you have friends who own a 20s or 10s don't let them pair with a 30k bluetooth. You will lose the phone connections so no phone calls no music it will even stop the radio from working as the 30K doesn't have multitasking bluetooth only 20s does. Sena says the 30K is outstanding ....nearly.
Maybe Sena should explain this on their youtube videos.
 
This is the reply I received from Sena Support why my radio and phone stop working when paired with a 20s - I'm sorry to say the 30K audio multitasking function only works during mesh intercom. If it's using the conventional bluetooth interface, it's feature is equivalent to a Sena 10S which doesn't have multitasking.
I have since been told - The ability to still connect with Non-30K users is an additional option of the unit; but not the main function.
I don't understand connecting to non 30K users is an additional option of the unit. When connecting to non 30k users by bluetooth stops all other bluetooth features working.
So if we lived in world where everyone who owns a 10s or 20s automatically upgrades when a new sena unit became available on the market there would be no problems but we don't.
By the way thanks for underlining your blurb about audio multitasking while in mesk intercom but what you should be telling people it doesn't have bluetooth multitasking when connected to 20s or 10s and you won't be able to take phone calls or listen to the radio. Just sit in silence until your 20s or 10s friend speaks. Amazing!
It would be a bloody good unit if if the 30k had the 20k bluetooth multitasking.

    Unbelievable that the bluetooth multitask audio is not available on the 30k. If i knew that before i wouldn't bought a 30k. Sena should fix this issue!

    Sena, in the real world a lot of riders do not have a sena device and when they do not always have a 30k. So you have to use bluetooth intercom most of the times. When using bluetooth intercom on the 30k you cant use audio multitasking wich is pretty anoying. Please fix this or a lot of users will return their device and switch it for a 20s evo.

    Yea, I had a few friends who just got a 30K, and they are all now returning them (myself included) because we cant connect the usual 8 together anymore, if even 1 person has a 30K we are stuck with no more then 4 users.  I will keep my 20S, looking at other brands that might be better and cheeper.

    I also hear that you get poor battery life in mesh mode.. so this thing becomes useless.  returning it right now.

    FYI, I asked for insturctions on how to connect 2 20's and 2 30's together, and they told me i had to factory reset the unit first?!

    LOL I pretty sure they have fixed this issue, but if not I am not Turning in my 30K Unit. If people want to chat with me then they should upgrade. The 20S is no where near as good as the 30K and the EVO can cost almost as much and it doesn't have mesh.

     Eaton Blumenstein Yes the mesh uses more battery power. Instead of getting 13 hours talk time on BT you only get 10 hours. LOl I still don't see where that is an issue? I mean how many times do you go out on a ride that long and if you do you must stop for a coffee somewhere, if so charge the thing 20 min charge gives you 5 more hours of talk time.  There are less complaints about the GoPro battery lasting only 1.5 hours than there is about the Sena. lol  Also when you do stop for a break, turn the system off. Also if you have 5 sena 30K and 6 20S devices. What I do is I connect with the 30 K (rather the 30K pairs automatically to all my friends 30K) via Mesh and then I connect with 3 20S via Bluetooth and my buddy connects with the other 3. If there were more then another 30K user would connect with three as well. This keeps most of the users in the loop of what's going on. 

    LOL it's funny how I have been reading a lot about Honda Gold Wing and Hardley Davidson getting rid of the CB systems and going Bluetooth. This is a perfect example of why they should keep the CB radio. Don't have to worry about battery life, anyone with a CB can join he net and the range with a tuned antenna can be as far as 10K's  Ahh old school technologies.

    So a simple responce.. I do not get 13 hours of talk, we got less then 4 hours, in mesh while listening to music.  thats the first thing.. 2 in what I will call "Legacy" mode, that almost doubles.   Battery life is not up to par at all with what they tell you.  good news is that i can charge it with a little battery on the go. but I rather not! 

    Also , going back to the 20K vs 30K connections, great, but the 30K that is talking to a 20S looses the ability to listen to GPS and/or Music.   Music is quite important to us, it is the reason I got my 20s in the fist place.

    I don't use GoPro's so thats a moot point, i do have always on plugged in cameras.  But going into the camera note, some of us do motoblogging, while useing the BT part of the Sena, well they cant on the 30K, they have to use a 20s or a separate program and mic.

    Long story short, the 20S had it's ups and downs, the 30K fixed none of that, and removed a lot of the important and well working parts of the 20s, while just adding mesh. 

    Long story short, I am hoping that Sena is working to fix a few of their bugs, and fix battery life a little more.  not the worst product, but a cardio for example seems to be a lot better, but at the time we are stuck with the Sena since thats what we all started with.

    I'm the only one in my group with the 30k .   I have been very disappointed in the ability to connect with the 20s in my group. I was told at point of purchase that the 30 k is completely compatible with the 20s.  I'm pleased I didn't sell my 20 Evo as I going back to it, and I'm also considering changing over to Cardo as a few in our group have them. I will attempt to convert the others over to cardo as well . On two major over night runs the 30 K has played up. I had to turn it off as it was completely annoying with repeated messages that it has found a com device and it will try again later. Have not been able to work out why its doing this ?

    Has there been anything done to rectify the issues with multitasking with any other sena unit ? 

    I still having problems with receiving phone calls, even though there has been many up dates to software
