I totally agree!!! I just bought the same dual units,  if I had known in advance that Sena has NO APP SUPPORT FOR THE SMH5,  I NEVER WOULD HAVE BOUGHT IT!!!!!  Sena, this is deceptive selling and service in my opinion!

Here's what I did, returned the SMH5 Dual units for refund, and bought Cardo. No thanks, Sena.

Hey guys!  Sena never said the Sena app would work with the SMH 5.  The SMH 5 and SMH 10 use Bluetooth 3.0 and the app only supports the units that have 4.0 and higher. It's totally a function of the limitations of the bluetooth version that was used to build the units.  The units are basic communications devices as reflected in their lower cost to purchase.  You do have device support in the unit itself to adjust all the available options that the app would allow you to do, it's just not as convenient.  The update manager also allows you to adjust functions also but you have to plug it into a computer.

If I could use a simple analogy it would be like buying a Ford Fiesta instead of a Lincoln Continental, both get you to where you want to go but one has more bells and whistles which you pay for.  Here is a list of Sena Devices supported in the app.  https://community.sena.com/hc/en-us/articles/360026501752-Which-products-are-compatible-with-the-Sena-Utility-App-

This is a joke right ? You develop an app that supports SOME of your products ? Lets accept you do so. You do NOT inform your customers that the device you are going to buy is NOT supported by the company's mobile app ?

    This is very professional indeed

I certainly understand your frustration but you must understand that the SMH 5 and SMH 10 were designed and sold prior to the Sena app being developed.  It's still a popular model for folks with limited budget and not needing the advances that the other models possess so it is still marketed. Bluetooth 3.0 is limited in it's functionality and does not have the capability to support the mobile application.

You would certainly have a point if Sena marketed the product as compatible with the app and it actually didn't but they don't.  If you looked at comparing model features however, you would see that the app clearly does not work with your model. Here is a comparison chart I brought over from the Revzilla website https://www.revzilla.com/assets/0000/8420/sena_smh5_bluetooth_headset_dual_pack_wired_mic.pdf

Please Kimari dont try to fool us. It was a once off mistake buying a sena. I have already bought a Cardo freecom2+ to replace the junk.

Not trying to fool you Spyros.  Just stating fact here.  You don't have to get snarky about it.

Regarding the Cardo Freecom 2+ it is a good unit and has Bluetooth 4.1 so it will run an app.  I hope it will fit your needs well.  Personally I like the Sena units  as it is easier to adjust volume and make selections using the jog dial, especially with heavy gloves on. But that's just me.

    Stay safe on the road!

    Then riddle me this Ken.

If the Sena app doesn't support the SMH5, why do you link to the Sena app from the SMH5 product page?

Noname - First of all, my comments were made 3 years ago and the app you referred to came out after that.  Secondly, if you look at the compatibility for the newer app, it does not show the SMH 5 listed as a supported unit.  As to why Sena listed it on the page with the SMH 5, I have no idea.  You might want to ask them that.

Here is a list of compatible units for the Sena Motorcycles app from what is listed on the

    List of supported products

We have notified our website developers to remove the Sena Motorcycles App from the SMH5 product page as it has been added to it by mistake. Thanks.
