R2 Evo FW 2.2 Can’t use intercom and music

I recently updated both my R2 Evo cycling helmets to firmware version 2.2 and now we can’t activate the intercom and play music at the same time on either helmet. If I turn on the intercom while music is playing it stops the music and if I start the music again, it turns the intercom off. This was working before firmware version 2.2. I’ve already factory reset on both headsets and it doesn’t help. Does anyone know how to make this work? The wife and I want to be able to bike ride and listen to our own music while talking to each other without having to press the button to keep switching back-and-forth between music and intercom. Having to do that completely negates the reason why we bought the helmets and is extremely unsafe.

  I had the same problem today with our R1 Evo. We had to choose one or the other. We liked how it was and was part of the reason we got them.

  Yeah, but the stupid thing is it literally says in the 2.2 firmware patch notes that it “Modified to enable Mesh Intercom while music is playing” except it’s quite the opposite it, removed the ability to play music while the intercom is active, which is insane. Who’s gonna keep toggling a voice activated intercom on and off the entire time they’re riding, especially since usually one of us is way in front of the other one and we can’t see each other to say hey turn your intercom on.

  They released firmware 2.2.1 and it's still broken... WTF Sena?

  I have 2 M1 Evo that were purchased in 2023 and 1 R2 Evo purchased 2024 all three helmets were able to play music and have background navigation and other ride apps running at the same time and have the Mesh Intercom, which if communication was being conducted the music and other apps would lower the volume allowing you to hear the intercom communication. I recently updated to new firmware 2.2.1 on two of the helmets and know those helmets no longer allow to play music or any other app at the same time as the mesh intercom.  In fact I was communicating a hazard situation via mesh intercom when a ride app I have running in the background started reporting stats and with out my knowledge turned off the Mesh Intercom and did not turn on until another rider came up to me and advised that my Mesh intercom was off. 

  I reached out to Sena Help desk and the Agents initial response was that these helmets do not work that way it's either you have bluetooth on or the mesh system but you can not have them running at the same time.  The agent said only there Motorcycle helmets have the Multi Tasking Audio capability.  I informed the agent that it only stopped working after the firmware updated and that the helmet running on the old firmware is still operating as that all users want.  The agent responded that there were some units that were able to audio multi task but that was a glitch and should not have been able to both tasks but it was fixed in the firmware update 2.2.1. I said it did not fix it broke an important feature. This update causes people to be in danger as it turns off the Mesh system without the riders  knowledge and does not come back on.  The agent offered know useful suggestions other than do not have both running at the same time, which is not seamless communication. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was denied and was told to post on the community as sometime the bosses read comments.  Just really instills confidence in a communication company.   Not happy.  This needs to be addressed.
