Thank you very much for the reply! Yes I was planning on leaving both devices connected all the time. I just ordered a ground loop isolator, I'll post back when it arrives tomorrow.

So I tried an in-line ground loop isolator on the audio cable and it did solve my power issues, but it seems that the ground loop isolator has decreased the volume so much that now, even on the ALP...
