Have you looked at the default voice command handler? I think it can be set to either Google or S Voice - it needs to be set to S Voice IIRC.

I think the problem is that for intercom you are supposed to just tap the button; to start/stop music I think you have to hold it in for one second.

Did you get this resolved? I had this same issue and the problem was with the pins that connect to the unit - they had been mangled and the mic no longer worked.
