Audio Mixing
Instead of the SR10 Aux ports 1 & 2, taking priority over the SMH10 (dropping a current intercom/phone connection of the SMH10) it would be better if the audio from the SR10 Aux ports 1 & 2, were 'mixed' to the SMH10. This problem arose during a ride when my radar detector activated (which was audio connected to AUX 1 port). I was in a intercom conversation with the lead rider and when the SR10 took over the SHM10 I had no way of passing the radar detection information along to the lead rider. If the audio from the SR10 had been mixed into the SHM10, I could have warned the lead rider.

Thank you for your feedback. To mix audio profile is not compliant to Bluetooth standard, so audio from the SR10 (HFP) cannot mixed into the audio source of SMH10 (Intercom). However, we may solve the problem by disabling audio channel connection between SMH10 and SR10 for a while (e..g 10 sec). After awhile, it may be back or you may activate it. We will try to provide the feature in next firmware release.

in the next firmware release, this will be resolved by providing the temporary audio disable function (Triple tapping disables audio and back again if you tap again).

I feel most riders are going to have a GPS and/or Radar detector connected to the Aux 1 & 2 input ports on the SR10.
Example. When my radar detector activates, I don't need to hear the warning tone for 30 to 45 second. I know what’s happening. Just a second, maybe 3 seconds at the most, is all one needs. For example. If I was in an intercom conversation with a rider(s), and my radar detector activates, I'd like for the SR10 to send me the warning tone from my radar detector for 1 to 3 seconds, then IMMEDIATELY release the connection to the SMH10, and then the SMH10 automatically reconnect me to the previous mode (this MUST be quick), allowing me to pass the radar detection information along to the other rider(s). This needs to be user configurable with connect hang times. In my case 1 to 3 seconds is all I need to hear from the radar detector. The way it is right now, as long as my radar detector or GPS is sending out an audio signal, the SR10 and SMH10 are locked together, and I'm dead in the water for intercom between riders. NOT GOOD. The same holds true forGPS. Maybe design the firmware where the end user can select a hang time of the AUX Ports from continuous, to 1 thru 15 seconds in 3 second intervals. Also have it where each Aux port could have a different hang time. Example, my radar detector goes off which is connected to Aux 1 port, 1 to 3 seconds of warning tones are fine. If myGPS is giving me directions on Aux Port 2, maybe up to 15 seconds are needed. One size will not fit all. Does this make sense?0 -
Mark, I guess it didn't make sense to SENA. I wouldn't exactly call this suggestion "done". I think SENA is missing it. I have gone through every system in the past 60 days. There just isn't a very good way to get stereo music from Zumo665 (paired to phone or direct) and get radar detector tones when you need them on the market at all. I got my SMH10 yesterday. It is my preferred bluetooth system, but what about those radar tones!! I don't want to use the Zumo665 in mono as that's why I'm paying for XM and MP3 functionality. OK off my soapbox.
Riders want and need to be able to connect a radar detector and have it override whatever is going on for a few seconds as Mark Harrison has pointed out. I love the idea of having this availabe on one of the AUX jacks on the SR10. Maybe the other can be tapped as you have implemented in the firmware. We are so close to bluetooth nirvana. Thanks for listening.

Josh mine is working perfect. Not sure why yours isn't. I have a RADAR Detector connected to the SR10. When in intercom conversation, or listening to multi-media, the alert from my RADAR detector now mixes with the on-going connection just fine. Maybe try a full hard reset of the SMH10 and SR10. Take care..

Nice! I hadn't picked up the SR10 based on comments here and what sena was doing about it six months ago. I thought it wasn't in the Bluetooth standard to mix? Anyhoo thanks for the heads up I will be getting one shortly. Yeah! 0 -
Hey Mark, Josh
This sounds like exactly what I want to do... I already have the SMH10 and use it for voice/music with my smartphone. I'm about to purchase a radar detector for the bike, but have not seen any way of making it work happily in conjunction with the SMH10.
- Just wanted to confirm before purchasing this...
If I get an SR10 I'll be able to pair that to the SMH10 (I assume via Bluetooth?), hook the detector output up to the SR10, and keep my phone paired directly to the SMH10 for voice / music.
- And in that configuration when the radar detector goes off the sound from the detector will simply mix with my existing audio stream from the phone (music / voice / whatever) - it won't cut out the existing audio stream, or cause other issues along those lines?
Does that all sound fairly accurate? If so, I'm pretty sure I know what my next purchase needs to be...
Thanks!
DanO

It will 'mix' with a ongoing intercom connection. Can't say if it will with a phone connection.

Gotcha - thanks for the clarification.
I may need to do a bit more research on this one.

Different riding conditions and scenarios require flexibility in the configuration and behavior of the SR10.
I would like to build on Mark Harrison's concept of customizable / prioritization options for the SR10. Specifically, in the area of how the SR10 mixes and switches the (3) wired audio inputs.
Via the SR10 Manager interface, I would like to have the ability to:
1) Turn the AUX Audio Mixing ON / OFF (If ON, all audio sources would be mixed together as they are today under the SR10 v1.2 firmware functionality)
2) If Audio Mixing is OFF the SR10 will function as a Audio Multiplexor with the ability to set the priority for each of the 3 SR10 wired audio inputs individually (i.e. the 2-way radio, AUX1 & AUX2). Conceptually, higher audio priority inputs override lower priority inputs if simultaneous audio input signals are detected. An optional "connection hold" value (e.g. hold the audio input source open for n seconds after no audio is detected) would also be desirable for fine tuning beyond default values.
EXAMPLE 1: Assume a 2-way radio is connected via the hi-rose connector, a GPS on AUX1, and a Radar Detector on AUX2.
USE-CASE#1- "I Like Talking to My Riding Buddies, but I don't Want to Get a Ticket". SETTINGS VIA SR10 Manager > Priority=1 AUX2 (Radar Detector). Priority=2 HI-ROSE (2-way radio audio). Priority=3 AUX1 (GPS). OUTCOME FOR THIS USE-CASE: GPS audio directions would be heard unless a incoming 2-way radio signal was detected (GPS audio would be switched off, 2-way radio audio on), the 2-way radio audio and GPS audio would be switched off if an audio signal was detected from the Radar Detector (which carries the highest priority).
**
EXAMPLE 1: Assume a 2-way radio is connected via the hi-rose connector, a GPS on AUX1, and a UHF radio scanner on AUX2.
USE-CASE#2- "A Very Large Ride Event with Multiple Ride Groups, and Support / Chase Vehicles with Radio Communication". SETTINGS VIA SR10 Manager > Priority=1 HI-ROSE (2-way radio audio). Priority=2 AUX1 (GPS). Priority=3 AUX2 (UHF Radio Scanner to monitor multiple Ride Group / Support Channels). OUTCOME FOR THIS USE-CASE: A broad range of UHF channels can be monitored ( listened to (weather, hazard, emergency, etc.), GPS audio directions would override the UHF monitored audio, unless a specific communication was received via the 2-way radio (which takes priority in the use-case over all other audio).
**
There are many other potential use-cases, scenarios, and specific applications where riders would benefit from having the increased control over the behavior of the SR10. Specifically in the multiplexing management and prioritization of wired audio inputs. I believe the proposed functionality to be a desirable capability across your entire SR10 customer base, providing the ultimate in product flexibility, and if implemented, would further sustain and extend SENA's market leading capability in the motorcycle communication integration space.
Can you provide this capability in the SR10 v1.3 release ?

I created a new suggestion thread and re-posted under SR10 Wired Audio Configurable Multiplexing (w/ Prioritization)

I haven't tried this yet but check out the Mix-It2 device: http://www.mixitproducts.com

@Daniel Brunt - I read the specs on the mixitproducts device you identified. It sounds like it offers a form of the audio mixing and multiplexing for mono GRMS audio that I proposed above.
However, the SR10 device that many of us have already invested in is a robust platform with an decent embedded micro-controller, DSP, and DAC capabilities. What is needed is a modification to the firmware / microcode for the (i.e. the software program) that instructs this sophisticated hardware package (the SR10) on how to behave / function / process and prioritize the multiple audio streams that it is already capable of handling.
Ergo, we don't need more 3rd party hardware to strap onto our handle bars and cobble together with a myriad of home brew cables and connectors; We (the customer base) need to influence the Software Engineers at SENA to get busy and write some code to meet the real world conditions we operate in.

There is a VERY simple solution Sena could implement. Once the radar detector squawks, pressing EITHER button on the SMH-10 momentarily could silence it for 10-20 seconds, long enough to use the intercom to warn other riders and/or reach up and mute the detector.
Riders may also want to look at this option: http://www.powersportsus.com/Helmet-Radar-Detector-LED-Alert-for-Motorcycles-p/hard-5.htm
Gives you audio AND an LED visual warning in your helmet, completely sepaerate from Sena / Bluetooth.
