A couple of things I've noticed that still don't work. I haven't had a chance to road test it yet so there may be more issues.

    1) The ambient mode still doesn't work. All I can hear is my finger rubbing on the unit or helmet. I cannot hear any outside sounds at all through the speakers.
    2) The voice command "Hello Sena" doesn't work after 60 seconds.

    Maybe the next fix???

I cant answer my phone with an incoming call HTC One M9. I think the update helped iphone users but seems to have messed up android users. I went back to v1.4.1 so it will do for now.

    1.5 Firmware Update

Ambient mode works for me - did you try turning up the volume to max while you're in that mode, Richard?
Android 4.4.2 on Galaxy Note 2 works for picking up incoming calls.

BUT. . . Audio Multitasking doesn't work on Intercom Channel 1 when it's open. Music cuts out really bad like a jammed signal, and "popcorn" crackling like sound. Switched back to version 1.4.1, did a factory reset and the problem now persists, plus the intercom signal cuts in and out just like the music. Reset my cell phone but that didn't improve anything.

Currently in communication with Sena Support.

Red Leader, I tried turning the volume up all the way and all I get is louder rubbing noise and static. Absolutely no outside sounds.

Hey Richard, Not sure if you tried this yet, but just in case you didn't...

First try the factory reset (tip from the Sena Support). Apparently during a firmware change it is recommended to do this Factory Reset procedure. Section 21 on page 45 of the PDF manual (to date).

    http://www.sena.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/UsersGuide_Sena_20S-v1.0.pdf

After the unit is turned on, hold the phone button for 12 seconds, resulting in a solid red light and "Factory Reset" voice prompt. Then tap the Jog Dial within 5 seconds of that event (or else it will cancel the reset). Check your ambient mode. If it's still not working, try squeezing the Sena unit gently against the pin contacts (vertically) to see if it's a contact issue.

If still not working, use a small toothpick or thin paperclip (the hole is pretty small and deep, so you may have to whittle the toothpick shaft) and press the pinhole reset button located opposite side of the Jog Button for one full second (or longer I guess just to make sure) - you should feel a slight click through the toothpick and the unit powers down. Power up the unit and try the ambient mode again.

Still not working, try switching back to v1.4.1 firmware via Sena Device Manager, do the factory reset again, and test the ambient mode. Do the Pinhole Reset if it's still faulty. If it's still screwed up, then send a ticket in, listing what actions you took in detail (and in order) to try to solve the problem. More details will help support get back to you quickly.

I am assuming that you are tapping the Ambient Mode button twice in succession (located on the clamp unit). If you're touching/rubbing the main unit while Ambient Mode is on and you hear it a lot louder than you do when the unit is off...then it's working. Alternatively, you can try plugging in earphones to the 3.5mm output, (without your head in the helmet) and try touching/rubbing the unit to see if there's any noise.

Normally, I hear some static when its maxed out on volume, and you should hear a two-tone beep when your volume is set to max (rolling clockwise if you're looking at the jog dial). I find it's kind of difficult to pick up sounds in Ambient Mode if the source (say a pedestrian) is more than 5 feet away.

I have a problem with the ambient sound, I have had the 20s for only a couple of weeks. I get the same issue with the ability to hear me rubbing the unit but no other ambient sound, however when I plug in a set of ear buds and try the ambient sound it works perfectly and I am able to clearly hear ambient sound???????????

    Re: Ambient Mode

I think we're in the same boat...with slightly different expectations. The Ambient Mode "works," given you can hear rubbing noise on the unit rise and fall with volume changes, but it's just really difficult to hear ambient noises over the white noise even if you turn the volume up to max. I tried earbuds vs speakers and found it a just a little easier to hear the ambient noises via earbuds...but not by much - the white noise is still largely present. I have to get people to talk about a foot away from my unit or less to hear it, which somewhat defeats the convenience of an Ambient Mode.

Not sure how Sena's gonna tackle that one. Amplifying the mic output will poorly affect the signal-to-noise ratio, but not amplifying it at all makes for a very quiet Ambient Mode.  OR....maybe plug in your extra mic to the AUX input and have some kind of firmware update to use that AUX input as your Ambient Mode mic.
