SENA 20S poor FM radio reception
My wife bought me the 20s as an upgrade to the 10s for my 50th birthday purely because I had mentioned it would be great to have an FM radio option. I am utterly disappointed that she has spent a significantly amount of money to find that the radio reception is atrocious. I live near Aberdeen in the north east of Scotland and around Aberdeen reception is fine. Travel any distance away and reception is non existent. This is no good and am now considering selling the 10s and the 20s and buying a different system unless there is a solution to this issue. I note from online forums this is a very common complaint. I look forward to your response. Thanks, Ewan.

Ewan, I am an owner of a dual set of 20s's, from when they first came out. Sad to say, but the FM reception is mediocre at best with both units. Firmware updates have not helped. That's just the nature of these communication devices. The FM capability is an afterthought rather than a feature to tout. I have little problems with listening to my favorite stations while running around town (Portland, Oregon, USA) though I sometimes have to cock my head funny in order to maintain reception. But if I get just a few miles out of town, the signal becomes just noise. The FM antennae in these coms are just too small. I wish that they could utilize the wire of connected earbud headphones as an extended antennae, but they can't. For trips of any length at all, I fall back to my smartphone or iPod for music and podcasts. I doubt the upcoming 30K com unit will have any better FM reception, but I'll probably still purchase one and check it out....

Ewan, I may have found a solution/work around for your FM reception woes. See my response to Keith, here. Perhaps a dedicated FM radio like the Jensen product would give you better results....

Thanks for your comments Hung. I received a reply from sena which was a waste of time as they told me to check it was on the correct country setting! I'm travelling to America next month on vacation so will look to purchase a jensen. Thanks again, Ewan.

Enjoy your travels in the USA! If you find yourself near Portland, Oregon, I'll buy you a pint!

Sena promotes FM as a key feature. My 20S EVO FM is practically unusable - full static on my entire commute (Atlanta). Horrible; unusable. Very disappointed - should have a full refund.

I have just bought a 10s as my old Scala Rider 9 was coming to the end of its life. I have found that the 10s radio reception is better and riding around the Scottish Borders I have found that the local Radio Borders reception is better than BBC Radio 2. The sound quality is a world better than the SR9. Using my phones music into the 10s is far better sound level and quality. I will probably goo back to just using the Music.
