Has anyone ever updated their firmware on a Mac?

I've tried multiple times, only to fail with errors such as "cannot make backup firmware."

  just updated mine. no issues at all. did 2 units in less than 10 minutes

  Yes, updating firmware on a Mac is usually done automatically through macOS updates, but it can also be done manually if needed. Just like in What Beats Rock, where strategy matters.
