Are there two generations of smh10r, and if so what's the difference? I have two sets and one of them looks older but has far superior sound quality to the other.
I purchased two sets, but one has reflective sena sticker on battery and the other has a battery holder with no battery sticker. Adhesive strips in the reflective sticker one were also 3M branded - while no branding on the adhesive strips in the other unit. The reflective sticker unit had serial number starting with 13 while the other unit's serial # started with 14. The 13 set's speakers are great, even have some bass and mid - while the speakers in the 14 set are awful with no bass. Additionally, there is a constant low level of static in the 14 set, with nothing in the 13 set. Did Sena go with cheaper but somewhat inferior components in the 14 generation?

Nathan, there are not two generations of the SMH10R. What you have is that the SMH10R that starts with 14 on the serial number has the updated version of battery pack while the SMH10R that has the serial number that starts with 13 has the original version of the battery pack. Everything else is the same. So about the problem with the static, it is recommended that you update the firmware on both headsets to see if that will remove the sound you are hearing.

I just purchased an SMH10R with a serial number that starts wit 14 and have the battery pack holder, but there is only one side of the velcro included with the kit.
I am assuming the original battery came with the other side of the velcro already attached to the battery.
It is not really a problem I can just get some more velcro from the hardware store, but you might want to check the package contents of the newer versions.
