Galaxy S5 won't work as phone

I recently switched to a galaxy s5 and have connected it as a media player. However, it won't function with the headset as a phone. When Bluetooth options are open on the phone and I select 'use for phone audio' it checks the box for a moment and then unchecks itself. Any suggestions?

I'm running smh10 firmware 5.1. It did the same thing with version 4.0

  I am presuming you have something like the SMH10R? I have this same issue and even with my media it plays my music for about 15-30mins then stops and the controls won't start it again :(

  I have the same problem with my smh5 and my Gs5. Anyone have a fix for this?

  Same issue SMH5 with latest firmware and galaxy S5.  Connects as audio only.   Phone connection blinks on for a moment the reverts back to audio only.

  I have the same problem with the SPH10 with latest firmware and galaxy S5.  Connects as audio but phone connection blinks and reverts back to audio.  Samsung says the devices are not compatible?

  I was successful in pairing the SPH10 and Galaxy s5 using selective pairing for HFP.  It now works for phone and media.  However, i cannot get the microphones to work for phone or intercom AT ALL!  Any suggestions or others that have had issues?  Thank you.

  Hello, Loreen! You said you paired the SPH10 and Galaxy s5, so could you please share the whole process of pairing, because I fail to succeed in it! That would be at least something..I think there should be a logical solution to the problem. I think that Galaxy s5 has more conveniences  than its previous versions, but still there is something unrevealed to its users.
