Early release 20s model with serial numbers.....
Earlier in August/September while in teh UK - I kept a close eye on the release and various issues that appeared with the first batches of the 20s that were released.
I noticed that the problems that most of the first models seemed to occur with the units having Serial numbers starting in 1406 & before and that the advice and responses showed that the units with Serial numbers from 1407 ......... resolved most of those issues.
I needed to purchase a Dual 20s set for use in South Africa for a tour - however I was adamant that I'd wait until the very last minute to purchase the set in SA to ensure that I get the latest version of the Sena 20s with very latest Firmware.
So we arrived here and I promptly went to purchase a new off-the shelf stock item........ (was sure it was new as new can be) ......... travelled 160km to where we were staying and a few days later started to install the units on the helmets. Basic setup was fine - but then issues started with Music sharing to the 2nd unit was absolutely attrocious......... horrible - stuttered, broke up and no matter what I did (including raising the aerials) - the quality was just poor.
After a few hours of resetting the units to factory settings - I downloaded the SENA Android app to see if this would make settings easier......... when I suddenly thought to check the Serial numbers/version of the set supplied......................
I was not happy to see that my NEW set sold to me a week ago carried the Serial number range starting in 1406 ...................??? Explains a lot!!
PLEASE can SENA explain why - if there were known issues with the previous versions - I was sold stock that should obviously have been recalled....?
My "SENA" experience is just not happening!!

Seems like 1409xxxx the 2014-09 (sept) release is the latest and seems to work. The FM static issue is the latest I encountered, with my 1407xxxx version (i had a 1406xxx, which was RMA'ed back to them)

Sena, has this been addressed? Saw reviews and tests which demonstrate units fail at short range (.25 miles) and work nowhere near range advertised. Probably not going to buy the 20S unless you earn my trust, way too big of a price tag to throw away if the 20S does not meet stated ranges...

Its been fixed since 2014 end. I've had the 2014-09 and its worked flawless since then. Still going strong. Firmware updates every couple of months have added better performance as well.

Sena have been great with regard to resolving the issues.
My first set of units were exchanged by the Sena distributor here in South Africa without any hassles with the newer "09" version. A slight problem occurred with the FM on the one replacement unit and again they replaced the set promptly.
Sena released the new helmet mounts with aluminium clips rather than the plastic ones - on my last visit to the UK - I was asked by Sena to return my Dual set with the mounts and they sent me the latest version set with improved mounts...great service and I'm really impressed and happy with them
The units have been great and I recommend them.
