Painful Volume Spike SMH10 SR10 Combo
When talking on the intercom, or when on a phone call, if the Radar Detector Alerts.... get ready for the Volume of your speaker to blow your eardrums out.
I just went riding with a few friends for a week, and we all have the Sena's, some different combos, but for 2 of us this problem was very painful.
The Volume was fully adjustable for each individual system, and each unit was adjusted to a rather low volume, but if the 2 were combined, look out.
I had a Radar Detector and a GPS plugged into the SR10, and my headset paired to my Phone. Another one of the guys had the same experience with a different base clamp and a different phone.
The simple work around is... to just make sure you unplug your Radar detector before you make a phone call or talk on the intercom, but this also negates the entire purpose of buying an SR10....

To clarify...
Start up the units and wait for everything to pair up,
then adjust phone volume, on the phone and then on the Sena Jog dial, Med High Volume on phone (80%), Low Volume on Sena (20%), good. done.
Next adjust the Volume on the GPS that is paired through a SR10 the same way, (60%V GPS 20%V on the Sena) good, done.
Next adjust the volume on the Radar detector (Beltronics STi Magnum), in this case, all the way down.... The Lowest Possible setting on the Radar Detector is still very loud.
Then... Go Ride.
Listen to Music from Your phone, at a normal conversation volume. If the Radar Detector goes off when you are just listening to music, it'll be just a Loud as when you originally set it, no problem.
Call up a riding buddy that you have paired with (sena to sena intercom) and have a nice conversation. However, if the Radar detector goes off and you're still having an intercom paired conversation, get ready for the volume of the Radar Detector to go up 50%. at which point you will be trying to turn it down quick.... the only problem, you can't turn it down. In fact it was so loud inside my helmet that my buddy heard my Radar Detector Alert through my Boom Microphone.Fair warning, If the Alert continues for more than a few seconds... you will either be turning off the Headset or ripping the cords out of your Radar detector just to make it stop.
Then their is The Eardrum Destroyer.... Call someone on your phone, and have a nice conversation, at a nice low volume, Lets say Your Wife... like I was. As you continue riding down the road, having that nice conversation, you encounter a Radar signal, and your Detector starts the Alert... at which point... The Volume of the Phone Callers Voice will Max Out to the point that the speakers in your Helmet are Crackling, This at the very same time as your Radar Detector Alert is also at a Volume previously reserved for diverting traffic off of the roadways by firetrucks. Yes we are talking in the hundreds of decibels. This will cause you first to scream out in pain..... something like Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaauuuuuuuuuuuuuugggggggggggggghh. Then less than half of a second later an involuntary recation will cause your left hand to reach up an try to remove the Sena Headset unit from the side of your helmet. At which point if you lucky... you will accidentally hit the Jog dial and phone button at the same time, shutting down all operations. But this causes a second... almost cataclysmicly more harmful problem... You Just screamed into your wife's ear, as in major distress, and then the phone went silent.... Yep, you guessed it, she thinks you Just were involved in an Accident.
So, once you regain some semblance of normal thought processes, you need to unplug your Radar detector once again, start up the headset.... again... and Call you wife back ASAP. So that you can ... explain to her what just happened.There... That's a little more detailed and informative.
Like I said, the easy walk around for now is..... to just unplug your radar detector cord.... prior to making a phone call or talking on the intercom.
Have a Great day.
