Instructions on maximizing FM reception with SMH5-FM

I am using a SMH5-FM unit in a Nolan helmet.

After the installation, I just shoved and coiled up the excess speaker wires under the helmet padding.

However, I later thought that perhaps the speaker wires are used as FM antennas.

If this is the case, the manual should provide some instructions on how to spreadout the excess wiring in maximizing FM reception.

  SMH5-FM using 'R' speaker cable as a FM antenna. (which is longer speaker cable)

  We recommend not to coil up 'R' speaker cable when you install speaker cable to your helmet.

  I would like to know if reception of FM can be improved by leading the "R" speaker cable over the top, or around the back of the helmet. I would also like to know if reception is improved by placing an aluminium foil (the one for kitchen use) under the "R" speaker cable could improve reception. I have once learned that the roof top of a car, if made out of metal, improves the FM reception in a car.

  We recommend to route 'R' speaker cable over the top to improve FM reception.
