I recently bought a Snowtalk and installed  it in my ski helmet. I found that with a gloved hand it is very difficult to find the controls left and right inside the padded earpieces. In fact, it is not easy even with bare hands. I fixed this problem by tapping a small pebble to the center of the earpiece control and reinstalling. It works!  See photo.  I recommend Sena modify the controls to emulate the pebble enhancement.  It really is an improvement.
I own an smh5 as well.
