Air Travel and Sena helmets

Am I able to check or carry on my Sena (R1) bike helmet? The TSA site indicates lithium batteries are not allowed in checked baggage, but I know we did successfully check them once (didn't think about it at the time)....

  you can bring it as a carry on or checked.

  our devices are under 100Watt hours, but mainly devices with built in batteries are to powered off
