X-Com 2 not turning on
I have had my x-com 2 for a year with no issues. All of a sudden the device won't turn on.
Whenever I hold down any button (or combination of buttons) the blue light will flash every one second but that is about it.
When I charge the device I can see the red light turn into blue eventually, but even after that it will not turn on.
I have tried soft resetting by pressing the button by the charging port, and I can't factory reset since pressing the X button in the middle won't do anything but flash the blue light.
The device state does not allow it to be detected by the XComDeviceManager.

Dear Arnau,
Thank you for reaching out about the issue with your X-Com 2. I’m sorry to hear about the trouble, and I’ll do my best to assist you in resolving it.
Suggested Troubleshooting Steps
-
Check Battery Health:
- Although the device shows it is charging (red to blue light), the battery may not be holding a proper charge. Try charging the device for at least 3 hours using a different cable and power source to rule out a charging issue.
-
Force Restart:
- Since the soft reset hasn’t worked, press and hold the power button (or combination of buttons) for 12–15 seconds. This can sometimes help resolve frozen states.
-
Device Manager Recovery Mode:
- Even if the X-Com Device Manager doesn’t initially detect the device, try connecting it while holding the reset button near the charging port. In some cases, this forces the device into recovery mode, allowing the firmware to be reinstalled.
-
Inspect for Physical Damage:
- Check for any visible damage to the buttons, ports, or connections that might prevent proper operation.
-
Battery Replacement:
- If the above steps don’t work and the device is out of warranty, the issue may be due to a degraded battery. Replacement might be necessary.
Follow-Up Questions
To better understand the issue and provide additional guidance, could you clarify the following:
- Did the problem occur suddenly, or were there any signs beforehand (e.g., shorter battery life, difficulty turning on)?
- Are you using the original charging cable and adapter?
- Has the device been exposed to extreme conditions, such as water or excessive heat?
- Have you attempted to update the firmware previously, and if so, did the issue arise after an update?
If none of the steps above resolve the issue, I recommend contacting the X-Com 2 support team directly to explore warranty or repair options. Let us know if we can assist further!
