SRL-2 Connection fails after navigation commands
We use the SRL2 for communication between 2 engines and navigation instructions on 1 of the engines. After a number of navigation commands, communication is often not automatically restored. This can sometimes take 10 to 20 minutes! So difficult. Is there a solution for this?

Thank you for reaching out regarding the connection failure of your SRL-2 system after receiving navigation commands. We understand how important it is to have seamless connectivity while using your device. Below are a few troubleshooting steps that may help resolve the issue:
1. Bluetooth Connectivity Reset
The SRL-2 may experience temporary disconnection due to interference or an incomplete command exchange. To reset the Bluetooth connection:
- Turn off both the SRL-2 and your mobile phone’s Bluetooth.
- Restart both devices and re-pair them by following these steps:
- Put the SRL-2 in pairing mode.
- On your phone, go to Bluetooth settings and select the SRL-2 from the list of available devices.
- Open the Sena Utility App and verify the connection status.
2. Check App and Device Compatibility
Ensure that both your phone's operating system and the navigation app are compatible with the SRL-2. Update to the latest versions of:
- Your mobile phone’s operating system.
- The Sena Utility App and any navigation apps you’re using (e.g., Google Maps, Waze).
3. Navigation Audio Setting
Some navigation apps may interfere with the SRL-2’s priority audio channels. Adjust the settings within the navigation app to send directions as phone calls or through Bluetooth audio channels. This ensures better compatibility with the SRL-2.
4. Firmware Update
If the issue persists, it may be due to outdated firmware. Follow these steps to update your SRL-2:
- Download the Sena Device Manager for PC/Mac from the Sena website.
- Connect your SRL-2 to your computer using the provided USB cable.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install the latest firmware version.
5. Factory Reset
Performing a factory reset may resolve persistent issues:
- Turn on the SRL-2.
- Press and hold the phone button, jog dial, and ambient mode button simultaneously for 12 seconds.
- Release all buttons, and the device will reset.
If you’ve tried these steps and the issue persists, please provide additional details such as:
- The specific navigation app you are using.
- Any error messages or behaviors you observe when the connection fails.
We’re here to assist further and ensure your device works as expected.
