Hey here attaching an HJC Smart Sena device to a non-HJC helmet, such as a Biltwell Gringo or Momo helmet, is possible with some creative adjustments since the device is designed for HJC helmets with integrated mounting slots. Here are some tips for a generic installation:

Steps to Attach an HJC Smart Device to Non-HJC Helmets:

    Inspect the Helmet and Device:

Examine the HJC Smart Device and identify the mounting hardware.
Check if the clamp base can fit the edge of your helmet or if it requires adhesive mounts.

    Use Adhesive Mounts:

If the clamp doesn’t fit the helmet, use a strong 3M VHB adhesive mount to attach the device to the helmet shell.
Clean the mounting area with isopropyl alcohol before applying the adhesive to ensure a secure bond.

    Modify the Clamp Base:

If the helmet’s edge is too thick or doesn’t accommodate the clamp, consider using foam padding or spacers between the clamp and helmet to create a snug fit.

    Speaker Placement:

The Biltwell Gringo and Momo helmets often lack ear pockets. Use Velcro pads or adhesive to position the speakers inside the helmet lining near your ears.
If space is tight, consider using slim-profile speakers compatible with the device.

    Route the Wiring:

Tuck the wires securely under the helmet padding to avoid discomfort or interference.
Use cable clips or adhesive anchors to manage the wire placement neatly.

    Microphone Placement:

For the Biltwell Gringo, which has a closed face, use the boom mic and position it near the front opening.
For the Momo helmet, depending on its design, use either a boom mic or a wired mic and secure it inside the helmet’s chin area.

    Secure the Device:

Once the mount and components are in place, attach the HJC Smart Device securely to the mount.

    Additional Tips:
Universal Mounts: Consider purchasing a universal mount kit from Sena or third-party vendors designed for non-specific helmet use.
Slim Helmet Accessories: Look for low-profile or compact components to fit helmets without dedicated slots.
Check Compatibility: Ensure the wiring and connections of the HJC Smart Device are compatible with generic setups.

    Potential Challenges:
Noise Isolation: Non-HJC helmets may not isolate wind noise as effectively as HJC helmets designed for the device. Adjust speaker and mic placement for the best performance.
Fit and Comfort: Test the setup to ensure it doesn’t cause discomfort or interfere with helmet fit.
With a bit of ingenuity and the right materials, you can successfully install the HJC Smart Device on your Biltwell Gringo or Momo helmet!
