riding with 4 of us was a challenge. Three 20evos and one 20s was our setup. And boy did we try around. It took us a week to find a setting that was bearable and mostly without Popping noises.

First of: The manual is not the most intuitive as is the handling of the 20s. 

In our living room we first tried to pair (everything on the newest firmware) the devices. A chain pairing seemed to give the best quality, And in reality it did not. After 3 paired devices the quality seems to be scaled down extensively and it does not sound pretty.

Riding with that chain pairing seems to be ok at first, but was terrible at times to the point of being not usable, and I was happy to turn it off just to have some peace and quiet. We tried around with a riding order to stay in the chain pairing sequence, but it did not really seem to matter. 

For sure: Sena is completely exaggerating with the distance of communication. It is far far less than advertised. There is a great Youtube video of someone testing this extensively.

To sum it all up. Shortly before trashing that expensive equipment and resuming to screaming at each other at the next traffic light we found a setting that actually worked for all 4 of us:

No chain, but the group connection. Initiated by on rider. Set up with the iOS app.

But:

Turning of the "Advanced noise control" on all devices, which seemed to have the most effect. It looks like the-processing power of a device is not capable of handling all the connection needs to be stable, so we fiddled with turning stuff off.

Turning this off also seemed to get rid of the random popping noises.

So try it on your next tour with four or more riders.

Actually I really want t get rid of my 20s. It is ok if I drive with my wife. Anything above that is really bad. It seems to be really difficult to get good and stable sound quality with 4 or more riders.

I will keep it now, it was just too expensive. Also I could not sell it to anyone on a good conscience. 

We found a solution, but I wish there were better alternatives for that amount of money and SENA does not shine in making things better and communicating that.

21st century and still crappy communication systems for riders.
