Sena 30k Mesh problem
Hi all,
I found some similar posts with problems regarding the Mesh connection.
I have never had any problems before and after starting the Mesh (over App or on the headset itself) the response usually was:
- "preparing headet'
- "hello"
- beep, "phone connected"
- "Mesh intercom on"
- "open mesh"
- "channel one"
So far so good. Everything was working.
Recently, the last two steps are missing.
I am not able to turn off my mic. All I can do is switching channels over the app and on the headset.
It is not even possible to turn off the mic via App, just a turning circle for 2 seconds and nothing happens.
Can't connect to any other drivers and I am pretty unhappy with this.
Everything is updated to the latest firmware.

Hi Sandro
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing this issue. If you haven't already, I suggest submitting a support ticket so we can provide you with the previous firmware for testing. Please visit this link: https://www.sena.com/us-en/support/submit-ticket
We haven't encountered this problem much ourselves, so please bear with us as we troubleshoot and try to help.
One thing you can try since you mentioned being on the latest firmware is the "Mesh Reach Out" feature. Simply pull up the mesh antenna and press the mesh button three times to enable "mesh reach-out." The second mesh device will hear "mesh intercom requested," and they need to press the mesh button once.
This test will help us determine if the mic issue persists.
To activate the “Mesh Reach-Out” feature, you can use the headset or the Sena Motorcycles app. Note that the feature needs to be enabled through the Sena Motorcycles App or the Sena Device Manager.
This feature is compatible with the following products: 50S, 50R, 50C, SRL-Mesh, SRL-EXT, Impulse, Stryker, SPIDER ST1/RT1, and 30K.
If you need further assistance, please let us know. We're here to assist you!

Dear Team, thank you for your answer.
The feature "Mesh Reach-Out" does not work at all. If I push the botton three times, it just beeps three times and nothing happens. No comment or so.

Hi Sandro
Gotcha, and you did enable it on the SENA app first correct?

Hi Alex,
yes, I enabled this in the settings. Tried hard reset via headset and also the reset with the small button and all... Still no reaction from the mic nor the Mesh...

Hi Alex. I just downgraded to v.3.3.1 and Mesh is working again. Same for the mic muting and all. Of course, the Mesh Reach-Out doesn't as it is not part of 3.3.1.

thank you for confirming that, I'll forward that to our team for review.
if there's anything else please let me know, or just submit a ticket and I'll get to you.

Hi Mariam Putkaradze
you need to download the Sena Device Manager first this needs to be done on a PC.
Follow the steps in the program until you can select "Firmware Restore" on the left side.
Download the older firmware and let it downgrade. This takes a while.
If you need any help, please let me know.0 -
Thank you for your response. I could not restore it as I dont have a backup version and restore is only possible if you have 3.3.1 version file downloaded. Maybe you could send it to me by email, if you have one saved.
email: mariamputkaradze@gmail.com
Thank you

Hi there,
I am having the same problems regarding the Mesh connection.
Prior to the upgrade the response when turning on the device is usually:
- "preparing headset'
- "hello"
- beep, "phone connected"
- "Mesh intercom on"
- "open mesh"
- "channel one"
Recently, the last two steps are missing.
I am not able to go to Open Mesh and can't connect to any other devices via mesh and I am pretty unhappy with this.
Everything is updated to the latest firmware but will not connect via open mesh which is what I purchased this sena for. Is there a fix for this?

Unfortunately, I was not able to fix my Sena. I have tried upgrade, downgrade, chanel switch, everything that Sena team has suggested, however without any results.

I am experiencing the same problem. Where do I access the old firmware to try downgrading?
0 -
Actually... Do not bother doing it. It does not work out. Might be able to fix it for one or two turn-ons. After that, you'll get the same issue.
Sena seems to be a little too confident in their current situation.
Their "service" is absolutely horrible.0 -
Thanks for the heads up.

I had the same Problem one one of my 30k´s.
But i managed to fix it, i took it apart and applied slight presure on the mesh communication chip while turnig mesh on, and it worked.
So i resoldered the area that i supplied pressure to and now its working again without any problems.
on my device it was a bad solder joint of the chip that caused the issue.

Thanks, I'll have a second look.

Which part did you put pressure on? I have dismantled it tried to push the joint but still nothing. Where is approximately the mesh communication chip located?

Hi there! It sounds frustrating to experience these issues with the Mesh connection. Have you tried troubleshooting steps like resetting the device? Sometimes, a fresh start can help. Also, if you’re looking for a fun distraction, there are iq test free online options that might be interesting while you sort this out!
