SRL3 - voice commands
Bought the above (with a new Shoei) just over a month ago, had a lengthy e-mail chat with Sena after raising a support request as the voice commands would not work, plus the adapter would not connect to my WIFI to update the firmware, after sending in videos of me speaking phrases into the helmet and the unit not replying, I got the OK to return the unit to the retailer, now waiting for a replacement, after seeing many posts about the same subject, what if the replacement SRL3 does not recognize voice commands either ? to I return it for a 3rd attempt ? and if that does not work where do I stand to return the helmet ? I have a 30K that works (better then the 1st SRL3 I had) and get a different helmet to fit the 30K to.
Does not seem like this is being addressed.

Not the answer you will be looking for, but for voice commands you have to really speak the commands clearly either loudly or add a small pause after hey sena..
For siri or google assistant, you need to make sure you have that featured to be enabled when your phone is locked.unfortunately, this is not something that can be resolved with out a hardware change, which we did with our 60 series that should release in the fall.

I got the SRL Mesh and the SRL3 for my Shoei Helmets..
There recently was a new firmware, which is not listed in the firmware history. Sena is very slow in updating their web pages.
My SRL mesh for my GT Air 2 and my SRL3 for my Neotec 3 are all really bad in accepting "Hey Sena" commands.
"Hey Google" works nicely.
As both of the Senas did work nicely, when i bought themand they got way worse with the last 2 formware updates.. I blame it on the firmware !
My assumption: Based on the manuals, the technical specifications, the way they are updated via the WIFI dongle.. My conclusion is, that
SRL MESH and SRL3 is the very same chipset ! The both suck at the moment reacting to "Hey Sena" voice commands.
Quality control is really bad with SENA. My 2 Spider RT1's also had their fair share of issues until they are now rather "okay-ish"
Reflecting the premium proces we pay for the Shoei SRL series and the fact, that the issues are also impacting Shoei's reputation, i wonder what needs to happen for SENA to take a little more care..
Short answer.. DO not return the hardware.. Wait for a fix ! But get a ticket logged, so they know about your trouble during warranty..

My three weeks young SRL-EXT had to be unmounted from the helmet and was now sent back to SENA by my dealer for exactly the same reason. Regardless of the FW version 1.4 and 1.5 it hardly ever understood a "Hey SENA" command. All possible settings and various voices werde tried even under quiet conditions, but only once in a while a result was achieved. This may be even worse in German, but nevertheless, ist should work in all offered languages. SENA should rather market this feature as "alpha" (not even beta)!
"Hey Siri" worked better, but not as good as with the phone itself. Phonecalls and playing music operated by the buttons and on the phone itself worked fine, though, and therefore a hardware defect is very unlikely.
It's a pity, but I doubt that a replacement unit will solve the issue. I will test ist in the shop without mounting into the helmet and if it doesn't work flawlessly by then, i will return it and go for a new Cardo. Sorry Sena - do your homework!1 -
My SRL3 has now been returned to the UK importer (Feridax) for checking, even though I have a mail from Sena to say it's faulty. my retailer also did offer me a Cardio but its more expensive than the Sena and most of my biker friends use the Sena. My other challenge is if the replacement unit is faulty do I go for Shoei as well as Sena and get a refund on both !!

just got my SRL 3 back (repaired?????) had expected a replacement, no report from Feridax as to what was done, all I can see if the firmware has been updated.
Voice commands STILL do not work!!!!!!!!
not sure what to do now.
