Do you have audio multiasking enabled?  Both units.  Connect intercom, connect music (one second hold jog dial on master unit) then three second hold on jog dial (should say music sharing on).  Only have phone paired to the master unit.  If both are paired to the same phone you will have problems.

I do.  I have connected and disconnected that countless times, and then used the fault reset to see if that would help.  Nada.  It seems the solution is to have each of us use our own music source and keep the intercom enabled.  It works, but it isn't why I bought this particular headset and brand.  I'm quite disappointed and from reviewing other posts, it seems I am not alone.  Next time I'll try another brand since it certainly can't be any worse.

If anyone manages to find a solution to this problem, hopefully they will kindly share it here.

I mis-understood your issue.  If you want to share music and have intercom working at the same time you are out of luck.  Multi-tasking works only with your own music.  If you share music your intercom connection is paused until you disable sharing then your intercom comes back on.  The reason is the music sharing feature is sent through the intercom channel to the other headset.  I believe the other manufacturers do the same thing if they have music sharing.

Then it would seem the salesperson steered me wrong.  He specifically told me we could share music and intercom at the same time, and that the volume of the music would drop when the voice intercom was activated.  We were able to do it, but the music was extremely choppy so not at all usable.

Your explanation makes sense, though I have to believe there's a way that the system can be designed to do both.  I believe that the Cardo Packtalk Bold can do it, though I'll confess I'm not sure.

In any event, while the answer is not what I was hoping for I do appreciate you taking the time, Ken, to respond so comprehensively.

That is the problem with some salespersons.  They are not necessarily fully versed on the product they are selling.  Bluetooth system features are sometimes very complicated.  Our expectations are often greater than what the technology can support - it keeps getting better though.  Just look at smartphone technology just 5 years ago vs. today.

A solution is to have the same music playlist on your wife's phone.  Each multi-task and you can have intercom at same time?

Truth be told, we like different music so having two soundtracks for the ride isn't necessary a bad thing.  And if this is the worst part of any ride I'm doing pretty well!

The work-around isn’t “...why I bought this particular headset and brand.” I think you should stick to your guns and not settle!!! Sena claims this headset can do what you’re looking to do...just sayin.

    What’s the return policy?

I noticed that the sensitivity setting for VOX was too high (above midpoint) and caused my 20S evo to act go into intercom mode - which caused the music on my headset to intermittently drop the music.  I have also had problems with music sharing and my wife's set as well.

I have the exact same problem, and yes, what you are trying to do is supported, and supposed to work. My situation is similar. I have my and my wife's 20S Evos paired in intercom mode. My 20S is connected to my BMW Navigator VI GPS (made by Garmin). My phone is connected to the GPS. It doesn't matter if I play music from the GPS or from the iPhone. At some point in the trip, the music gets choppy, slows down, or plays at accelerated speed (like Alvin and the Chipmunks). It seems to start most often when the GPS is giving spoken directions. Yes, all the priorities work correctly. GPS overrides all. Intercom conversation overrides music. When it works, it's great. To fix it, I have to turn off my 20S, restart it, repair, and then turn music sharing back on.

This is clearly a Sena issue that they need to fix.

Looks like Sena released new firmware for the 20S Evo, version 2.0, prior version was 1.7.7. Hopefully this will address this issue. I hope to test out soon, and will report back.

My intercom and Bluetooth connected music share are both working simultaneously - V2.0 firmware I updated just today.

The next issue for Sena to address is that there's a good 0.25-0.5 lag b/w the two headsets (2nd headset lags behind 1st), so if you wanted to sing along together, the beat will be off making it very weird.

Well we just purchased a 20S Evo pair, I followed all instructions and upgraded the firmware to 2.0. yes if I share music with the wife, the intercom doesn't work and another issue is the intercom looses connection and we have to re-pair the two units again. I'm at a loss here, I was told we could do so much, I guess the most important thing is to be able to talk to each other, I guess music sharing is just a wish at this point. Maybe 3.0 will be better. Also it took some crazy working to get the unit installed on the wife's helmet ( Z1R Solaris) but I did get it installed finally with more spacers and longer screws 3mm 0.50 pitch, just a FYI

I'v been able to get this problem resolved at least with 2 20s evos. Both are firmware 2.0. I have one evo paired with my phone that has the music.  I have multitasking on and nav app support on with both units.  I paired the intercom with both units.  With the intercom connected I then turned on the music on the phone that is paired with my headset.  It then plays through my headset and the intercom stays connected to my partner.  I then hold the jog dial down on my 20s until I hear "music sharing on".  Music is then shared with my partner and our intercoms are still connected.  I adjust music level using the phone's volume control and overall level with the jog dial.  Both of us have continuous intercom with music in the background.  There is a very slight delay in the music sent to my partner so sing alongs are a bit problematic but quite funny.

If you just upgraded to the 2.0 firmware you must remember to do a factory reset of both units beforehand.  Delete the bluetooth pairing on your phone and re-pair.  This pairs the phone to the new 2.0 firmware version.

Unfortunately doing a factory reset deletes all intercom pairings, FM radio presets and the headset settings to their original out of the box settings.  I wish there was a way to save all these before doing a factory reset.  Would certainly save some time!

I have the same problem. New firmware did not help solve this issue.
