Intercom failed, try again later!!!

I have a Schuberth branded 10UA essentially the same as a Sena 10U

My friend has a Sena 10U, we have paired the devices and use Sena RC4 remote controls.
He can connect to me and we can talk to each other but when ever I try to connect to him all I get is "intercom failed try again later"
All software is up to date, these units worked perfectly until we had to reset one of the intercoms now this is driving me mad.

  On a solo cross country ride and my 30k plays "intercom failed, try again later" every 30 seconds or so. As Shaun says, so annoying!! Had to shut it off and try reading routing from my gps screen. Didin't have this problem last summer (last time I used it). Thought it was fixed but apparently not. How do I get rid of this message? Not trying to pair with anyone.

  Shawn - Try deleting the pairing from both units then re-pair them.
